Chances are? Preferred upgrade at check in?

I've been checking and checking for my dates at pop for free dining. No standard and no preferred rooms available. What might my chances be of asking and paying at check in??

Do you mean there are no preferred rooms but you have standard and want to ask about upgrading to preferred at check-in or do you not have a ressie at Pop in any room type?---Kathy

Sometimes preferred rooms are only available when booking certain lengths of stay. Try extending a day or two before or after your current dates online and see if this is the case. If so, I'd definitely ask at check in.

Actually, I'd ask at check-in anyway. You never know.

Thanks for explaining. First of all, keep checking as cancellations will likely come in between now and final payment due dates ( sometime in June...but 45 days before your check in date). If not, of course you can ask about an upgrade to preferred at check in and if they're not reserved already you might get lucky to secure one. If nothing comes through beforehand then I'd call DRC and ask to have noted on your ressie that you'd like to be as close as possible to the food court/bus stop as preferred isn't available and also that you'd like to upgrade if possible upon arrival. This way the room assigner will see those notes. Good luck!---Kathy

same thing happened to us last year. we booked standard at CBR as that was all that was available. upon arrival we were blown away by the "hugeness" of that resort and decided to try again for a preferred. when we went to check in, we asked our wonderful cm if we could pay for a preferred room upgrade. she checked, had one, and upgraded at no charge, bless her little heart ! so glad we asked as we LOVED our martinique location...

What makes a preferred location? We always stay at CBR, but I always like to be by the bus stop cause by the end of the day I just want to get to my room!

from what i understand, a "preferred room" is one that is near OPR (food court, main pool, shops). we were in the village of martinique - it was literally just steps from our room to OPR. with two toddlers, it was a blessing as we never had to haul our stroller to/from...

It's just luck of the draw really. The resorts are so booked up any more I would not count heavily on it. But you can always ask at check in. Never hurts to ask. All they can say is Sorry, No.

We had a preferred room at CBR last fall and it was SUPER! We walked just feet to the OPR and could see the buses coming from our room. After a long day at the park, it is a blessing to get off the bus and be right at your room. Everything seems to be booked this year. It makes me wonder just how crowded it is going to be.
