Hi Everyone, I have decided to surprise my mom ( provided we get Ap rates in early Nov ) with a stay at the Wilderness Lodge . my question is I am going to pay for Standard view -Queen with Bunks .. what are the chances that we might get upgraded to a courtyard view.? If they don't mention it would it be out of line for me to ask if there are any available at no charge ? Thanks for your help.. Michelle

We almost always get a view upgrade when we go to WDW, it just depends on availability. Just politely ask if there is any chance of an upgrade, and most of the time the CM will try to accomodate you - it makes good business sense, because it will be harder for you to go back to a cheaper view next time.

Have a good trip.

Friends of mine stayed at WL in October, and got an upgrade from standard view to courtyard view. :) We just got back from WL, booked courtyard view and that's what we got. I had hoped for an upgrade to concierge, but it didn't happen. ;)

Thanks so much , I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask right . Michelle

You should ALWAYS feel free to ask at check in. The CM's expect it and will tell you what's available

We stayed at the WL in July. We booked 2 standards and upon check-in we were informed that we had been upgraded to courtyard.

We have always either booked courtyard or been upgraded. The last time we were there, we booked standard and we got standard. I had hoped for an upgrade, but the hotel was full. We ended up looking out over the service area and I vowed I would never book myself into a standard again. Not only was the room over the service area, the first room we were in was directly adjacent to a green roof area on the service side that was covered in bird poop - not very pleasant. The roof was just right out from our balcony - we looked directly upon it. So they did give us a standard room same side on a higher floor so as long as we didn't look down we could pretend the bird poop roof wasn't there. I vowed then always to pay for either woodsview or courtyard - after that experience I knew I would not be happy in standard and I will never book standard again. Luckily, that trip we were only there for 2 nights so we could tolerate it, but after having stayed in woodsview and courtyard all the other times, I realized I am spoiled and won't risk standard again.

We have booked a woods view for our upcoming stay. When I booked the room in December there were no standard rooms offered with the AP rate.

We will definitely be asking for an upgrade upon check-in on Saturday. DH is looking for a cash upgrade to concierge if the price is reasonable.
