We are booked for a 2BR at Kidani for October 18 - October 25. We have stayed at Kidani and we like it a lot, but we are hoping to be a little closer to the parks (other than AK) so I put in a waitlist for a 2BR Standard View at BWV. I know it's Food and Wine so the chances are slim. However, we should be pretty high on the wait list since I booked the waitlist exactly at 7 months. I was just curious, has anyone ever gotten a waitlist at BWV for that time of year?

Waitlist are luck and mathematics. The number of rooms in your size and category greatly affects your success rate. There are fewer standard view room than preferred/garden view rooms so you chance is less.

The other factor is that way that the waitlist system is administered by Disney. Evidence seems to suggest that the matches are made after the end of business each day and worked the following day by CM's. People checking availability daily may be able to book a room even though you have a waitlist pending for the same room.

ditto what bill said :thumbsup2
and it is most likely that there was a WL forming a few days into the 11 month mark (we waitlisted one night, BW view studio at just past 11 months 2 years ago.....it never came thru).

figure 149 BWV villas are 2 bedroom lockoffs (a 1 bdrm & studio combo), only 20% of rooms are standard view, you need an entire week (vs a night) .....and it's the F&WF.
i would figure on winning the lottery first ;)

however, if you really wanted to stay there, i would suggest WLing only a night or 2, and trying for a P/G view (even that is iffy, but a possibility at least).
good luck :)

I wait listed a 2BR at BWV about 3 months ago. It's for next week (spring break) and I never dreamed it would come through. Well, it did. It was for a full week. However, they initially told me I would be notified and I never got the notice. Only found out when I went in to create an account at MDE.

Based on this as well as past experiences, I'd say your chances are pretty darn good.

I agree with LShow. Last year we wait listed at the 11 month window minus 2days for a standard studio and never got it. I booked the week you are watching at the 11 month window and only got my days just minutes after 8:00am. Since 2 bedrooms require both a standard studio and standard 1 bedroom to make the 2 bedroom it's tough to get it. However getting a 1 bedroom standard is generally easier. I'm pretty sure that wait list was already pretty long way before the 7 month window opened. October is really hard to get which was the reason I added bwv points on after my first visit there. Good luck!

What you may want to do is stalk the online system, that's how I got a pool/garden view studio for early November last year. I waitlisted 5 nights. The last 3 came open, so I booked them, changed the waitlist. Then the second night came open, I booked it, changed the waitlist. The first night came through by the waitlist about 28 days before. DVC combined the 3 reservations into one. I had an AP rate room as a backup in case they didn't all come through.

Last year I wait listed at 10 and a half months for a Boardwalk view studio for October. It never cleared.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm surprised that owners at BWV have to waitlist even if they tried to book before 7 months. However, I know this is a busy time for the Epcot resorts.

I figured it would be a long shot. We will be very happy at Kidani if we don't get BWV. We are saving points to go to Aulani which is why we are booking standard view. Otherwise, I would look at preferred or boardwalk view. The nice thing about resorts with different point views like BWV and Kidani, and unlike BCV and VWL, is that the standard view rooms are a real bargain. We generally don't sit in our rooms looking out the windows so the view doesn't really matter to us.

BTW, I had to stalk the on-line system to get our current reservation so I may just have to do that here too.

I will let you know if I get the waitlist or not.

Bill,

I was wondering, are you aware of any maps or listings that show the different room types and view classifications of the various DVC resorts?

Thanks.

Fingers crossed that your wait list comes through!

I have two wait lists as well. My husband and I are heading to WDW for 10/3-10/7 without the kids for our anniversary. We booked our home resort at 11 mths. At 7 months exactly we started moving rooms... We had a wait list match for 10/3-10/5 at BLT Lake View. We managed to score 10/6-10/7 at BWV garden/pool view. So we have a one night wait list for 10/5-10/6 at BLT and one for the same night at BWV.

What do you DVC experts think the chances are that one of the wait lists comes through?

had a waitlist
stalked the site 2 or 3 times a day for a week
noticed a studio pop up
booked the studio and canceled the waitlist.
so not really sure if my waitlist would have come thru for me...as this also is during F&W.

so now staying BCV 21-25 sept for the first time...double bonus its during F&W....:cool1:

so stalk, stalk, stalk!

A Waitlist just came through for me less than 60 days out, so there is always hope.

I'm a BWV owner that was 4 days late (of the 11 month day) requesting a Standard View Studio for early October. I've been on the waitlist ever since.

But with the advice of some wise people here I did book a Pool and Garden view as backup.

Good luck! :thumbsup2
