Chamilia bracelet and locks

I have a Pandora bracelet. When I first got it and had only a few beads, I liked that I was able to lock the beads in the center using locks on the ridged part of the bracelet.

I'm giving a Chamilia bracelet and beads as a gift. There are no ridges on the bracelet so what purpose do locks serve in this case? Is there a way to lock a few beads in the center like I was able to with my Pandora?
