Chairs for Shows

I was wondering if its allowed to bring in a chair for nighttime shows? We have an ultralight camping chair that folds up the size of a nalgene bottle. My husband has spinal stenosis and a chair would be much easier than sitting on hard pavement.

They actually sell seat cushions
but with thoughts they are for parades
or sit on hard theater seats like Rivers of Light or Fantasmic.
I've seen lots of designs, I got at WDW outlet store.

But as @sharonabe points out for many shows, he would see nothing from ground.

Depending on which show you might be able to stake out a seat with "a view" but it would be way early to do that.

Not exactly cheap, but you may want to consider doing one or more of the dessert parties. The HEA Tomorrowland Terrace dessert party offers seating as does the Frozen party for Illuminations in EP. Jingle Bell Jingle Bam also has seating at their dessert party if you are going during the holiday season.

Ehhh... all parades at MK we sit on the curb on Main Street or at the rope elsewhere. We've also always sat at the fence at Epcot to watch Illuminations. Theres def some potential sitting shows, but as a previous poster pointed out seats of any kind (exception of strollers and wheelchairs)are not allowed.

I have seen people using walking devices that also have seats. The most common type are those rollator walkers, but on Monday I was in line for Jingle Cruise and a woman was using a cane that converted into a tripod seat, and sitting down whenever the line paused. Google "cane with seat" and you'll see what I mean. I don't know Disney's official position on that, but since it's designed primarily as a mobility device that allows you to take breaks, it might be exempt from the no-chair rule.

"Cane seats" are only allowed for use as a cane, not as a seat. They are not stable and easily tip or knock. Rollators (a walker with a seat) are allowed, as are wheelchairs and ECVs. WDW's general answer to those needing a place to sit is to use a mobility device.

OP, if he needs the cushion to sit while waiting, yes it is allowed. As others have pointed out, it's quite crowded and people don't generally look down to avoid stepping on a seated person. If you have enough people in your party to surround him as protection, that might help. However, I'd choose your spot wisely to be out of the way.

At MK people sit on the ground all the time. Two hours before the fireworks people are lined up sitting on the curb waiting. People sit in the main hub two hours before the show too. You name it. Closer to the show you'll see people sitting on main street (closer to the curb, but still on main street). I've seen many people almost get stepped on while sitting in the main hub (within the taped portion). Its honestly crazy. But i cant say i blame them. You want a good spot but you dont want to stand for 2 hours. That's hard on the body (mine anyway).

We usually are sitting while waiting for the show, not during the show and always out of the way of walkways.

Thanks for the suggestion. We may end up doing some of these ... so expensive though!

I think a cushion may help and will look for one of those. Does anyone know if they allow the cushion with the back or just the bottom piece? Thanks!

I use a Rollator to help with walking but also bring a self inflating seat cushion. The cushion folds down nice into its own bag that fits inside my personal backpack.
