So annoyed with Delta for this trip to MCO. They've changed our itinerary three times now and it's driving me crazy!! Has this happened to anyone else? I don't remember any other airline tinkering with the flight times so much.:furious:

They do it all the time. Lots of people here have experienced this "roller coaster".

Have had this problem many times out of DTW. Only once was I able to get a better flight the night before at no charge.

I have had the same thing happen to me with United and U.S. Air. After both those issues (we had to change flights both times), we went back to SouthWest. The only times I have had them change on me was by minutes.

After the airline makes a change, if it can give you a better flight at all then it should do so at no extra charge. It it refuses then it violated the contract of carriage in failing to endeavor to transport you as scheduled.

It's been so many years that I don't understand why flight changes are still so rampant. Surely the airlines have enough experience and data including Christmas on a Sunday versus Christmas on a Thursday to get their schedules down pat once and for all.

The last time I flew Delta to MCO they kicked us off our flight the day before (never got an email!) and put my parents and I on separate flights! I was in high school so it wasn't a huge deal but when we got to the airport my new flight had already left :furious: The Delta agent suggested my parents go without me, yeah right. Moral of the story, check delta flights frequently and check in early! We haven't been back to delta since anyways, their prices haven't been competitive at my home airport.

They may not kick you off of a flight that still exists ahead of time unless the flight and a needed connection are no longer compatible.

As I understand it, airlines won't switch you to a 'better' flight unless they make a 'significant' change. The definition of significant is different based on the airline. I believe Delta requires an hour (either in departing or arriving time).

Delta's bigger problem IMO is notification (lack thereof). I would rather get an email every time they make a 2 minute change than to constantly have to watch the schedule myself.

I will say I gambled on Delta making changes on my anniversary trip in June (that I had booked 10 months in advance) and picked some "not so good" flights. However, my gamble didn't pay off and they only changed by I think 30 minutes total (round trip).

Though most airlines make changes,Delta,is imo, by far the worst. The last time I booked with them, originally I was to leave at 6 am and arrive in Orlando at 11 am.After the 3rd change to the itinerary and a month to go,they had us leaving at 9 am for Detroit with about 20 minutes to catch the connection. They said I would definitely miss the connection but I could catch the next flight and get in Orlando for 6:40pm.i was so angry ,explaining my losses and expenses for the day,but they didn't care.I got my money back and was lucky enough to get a United flight for the times I wanted at basically the same cost.
Haven't booked with them since ,knowing what happened the last time, might probably happen again.

It sounds like you didn't get very good help or advice. :sad2:

I fly Delta frequently. I check my flights weekly, and if there is a change, I start working on it. I pull up the schedule, and have a couple of suggestions in mind before I even pick up the phone. Every time I have had a change longer than 1 hour they have been able to work with my suggestions. Usually it turns out that I book a 'better' flight time after a change than the cheaper one I originally selected.

Here's the trade off...

People like to book early..... and when you do that this happens.

If you wait to book SW (or even book late on Delta) this doesn't happen. I book my flights 2-6 weeks in advance on they only get changed if something happens (Storms for example!)

And Delta is not alone (or actually even the worse, you should read some of the hysteria that has been going on with United) it just gets more "press" on here because they have a huge Orlando presence.

Delta changes my flight from here at least 3 times. Every trip. I have gotten used to
checking the site every week, and looking at options before I call.
For my upcoming trip next month, they cancelled the late afternoon flight I usually take to Salt Lake City, and they re booked me through MSP with a 30 minute layover. REALLY? So not happening....
I decided to come home the following day instead, so had to book another night at the
Coronado. Very sad.... ;)

Oh my goodness, that is just horrible!!!;):rotfl2:

I have had the same problem before. My early morning non stop flight was cancelled, and I didn't like the flight they wanted me to take, so they put me on a flight that left much later that night. So I got a whole extra day in the parks!

JetBlue changed our outboud flight 2x. Both times they moved the flight up by 5 or 10 minutes.

United Airlines apparently thought I owned a time machine. Over Christmas, I was booked to fly to Thailand via Chicago and Hong Kong (spending overnight in Chicago to visit friends). My original plan was something like home-ORD on 22-December, then ORD-HKG-Thailand on the 23rd. UA cancelled the ORD-HKG flights between the 22nd and 25th (or something like that). So, they re-booked by ORD-HKG flight to the 21st. Of course, they didn't change any other flight - so I was leaving Chicago the day before I got there! Needless to say, I had it changed!
