I wonder now if it could have been as something as simple as someone else in the company cashing their check and the clerk just putting in the wrong check number. And it would be fairly easy for there to be another check in the same amount.

The frustration wasn't from their not being able to cash the check as much as their not being able to give us some kind of answer. I mean to not even be able to say "this could mean a, b or c" was just extremely maddening!
