certain park?

i am in a wheelchair and have children with me who are willing to push me. i have not been to wdw since i was "kneehigh to a grasshopper" and dont really remember anything. noone else in my "crew" have ever been there. needless to say everyone is excited. i was wondering if there is a certain park that i might want to skip so they can go and enjoy themselves (basically a break for them).. as i said before i think we are going to be so overwhelmed considering aa month ago we didnt even realize much about WDW . it was kind of a spur of the moment thing to make this trip(these kids REALLY REALLY desrve this . however they were expecting it to be similar to lake compounce. wich if anyone has ever heard of ,there is no comparison (its a park that you can go through faster then you can go through one attraction atWDW. i really want them to have a good time. as long as i know they are i will!

I know you probably have done this.....but have you considered an ECV? This way you'd have your independence and wouldn't have to worry about the children's endurance to push your chair. It would seem a shame to skip an entire park- perhaps you could start the day with your family and then rest awhile in First Aid while they visited attractions you might not be interested in. If you really do want to skip a park then you might want to take a look at the lists of attractions and see which appeal to you the least. How much time will you be spending at WDW for your trip? Are you staying onsite? Just want to get a few more details so more of us can try and help you.---Kathy

I just wanted to mention, from reading numerous posts
...my first thought regarding your question on whether there was any one park you might skip, was that others using chairs or ECVs have mentioned not liking the rough, pebbly pavement on the pathways throughout the park at Animal Kingdom.

Animal Kingdom is great for the ages your children are - and their newest attraction, Mt. Everest, is getting RAVE reviews!!!

So if you end up skipping one (even if only because YOU just want to take a day off) maybe that's the one to pass on. I couldn't possibly suggest that you skip MK, EPCOT or MGM Studios -- you will all LOVE them (whether you go ECV or your own wheels).

i have considered an ECV. but i have depth preception issues. and i am worried that i will run into people. though the vision issues have improved quite a bit ,that was one of the main reasons i never did get a power wheelchair.i was considering trying one ou and seeing if i am capeable of using one at this point. but i really dont want to be running into anyones heals. ir have people starring at me even more so then now becuase im stopping leaving well to much space in front of me.so unless i do VERY well i wont try that in disney.maybe i could start the day with my family and then rest awhile in First Aid (or at a show of some sort they might not be as enthused to go to?)
i will be at wdw for 5 nights ,we are staying onsite.at the sports all stars. i dont mind answering any questions. s if you need more info
i cant stand ,but can transfer with help(my oldest son can help me and i am able to transfer if VERY close seat. )

i mentioned to my son i could stay at the resort for a day he didnt like the idea! hes a greatGREAT kid who is dealing with too much on his hands as it is.(he even offered to stay with me and skip the parks so we could save money on his tickets,(i would NEVER let him do that ,hes expecting a average amusement park,and i know he will enjoy himself. ) he has had to grow up really fast and while i was in the hospital he was practically raising his brothers. add to all this he blames himself for me being in the situation im in ,all because it was when driving him to a practice that the accident happened.

Trying an ECV before you're there is a good idea. Definitely stay with what you're comfy with. No need to be stressed-out over new gadgets when your REAL goal is FUN, FUN, FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!

If you got issued one of these, it might come in handy.

Fastpasses aren't available for all attractions, so it could be worth a visit to Guest Relations when you first hit the park to get a GAC. "examples of accomodations: a quieter place to wait, a place out of the sun (for when the line is in the sun for a prolonged time), avoiding stairs." The card covers a group of 5+ the Guest in need of accomodations. Since your group is 6+... you may need to work that out.

That's one big-hearted son you've got on your hands! Of course he doesn't want to see dad stay behind.
I sense some mutual admiration going on between you two. Congratulations. Lots of folks never achieve that.

If you're doing the character breakfast (Donald's Breakfastosaurus ?) make sure you've got lots of battery life in your camera!! (Mega photo opps.)

There's actually fun stuff to see from the path throughout the AK park if you find yourself in the mood for a break - especially if you can find a shady spot to hangout and people watch while the rest of your gang is off doing other stuff.
