Ceremonies by Rev Tim Herring

wow, ive been reading these posts and bit confused now!!! going to have to really think about this when finalizing our decision about an officiant

Count us in the not thrilled category.. We too asked for a sample of the ceremony and were given the same line about it being custom to us. We were *very* explicit in telling him, several times, that we did not want any form of religious references.. no mention of God or any other diety or anything associated to any 'religion'. It made me nervous to not know what he was going to say - but our planner highly recommended him and he did take the time to ask us questions about ourselves. In the end God was a big part of the ceremony and nothing we told him about ourselves or our relationship was mentioned. It's hard to be annoyed on the happiest day of your life (for long anyway..) but I truely feel that what you say, is important.. and he ruined that for me.

Seriously, I don't know if the guy just didn't give a crap about what we wanted, so believed in God that he just *had* to mention it, or if he just gets up there and falls into his routine..

If you really care about the words that will be said during your ceremony - find someone else. Find someone who will work with you so that you know *exactly* what will be said ahead of time... this way there won't be any surprises.

{I might just be the 'Looney' one and that would be ok by me!}

I used Rev. Herring about two years ago, and I was thrilled. Of course, DH and I just wanted something simple, generally religious, and pseudo-Catholic. He helped us pick some readings for our relatives to do, and did a beautiful ceremony with a bit I really liked pertaining to partnership in marriage.

I'm Filipino and wanted to include some of the traditional wedding aspects of my culture into it. DH is protestant and wanted a unity candle. Rev. Herring managed to put it all together flawlessly for us, and our ceremony took only about 30-35 minutes tops. I had a low blood sugar problem at the time and we asked him to do things as quickly as humanly possible while keeping all our elements (so we wouldn't risk my fainting), and he delivered! A lesser mortal would have had us there at least another ten minutes, I'm sure.

As for a totally custom VR, I don't know. But if you want a bit of coaching, someone with a good sense of humor, and some unique cultural elements, he's your man.

I have Rev Tim Herring booked for mine next January. Just sent him the deposit. My fiancee's family is catholic, mine is split between catholic and baptist but DF and I are not practicing any. He has so far been very prompt and professional. But we are also not picky on what we want. Just a non-denom, basic, civil and slightly religiously influenced ceremony. We are letting him run with it. We are doing unity sand and using standard vows.

I have heard rave reviews, he's Disney's top preferred, only used when they are filming for videos and tv shows. He has a full service on the Disneys Photography DVD, you can request that! I enjoyed the ceremony and it even made me tear up and I dont know the people!

I feel comfortable with my decision, but also agree if you are picky maybe one of the others are better.

Dont let being nervous about your ceremony officiant be what stresses you out the most!

Do you have any info on where we can request this DVD? We're using Rev. Tim and I would like to see him in action.

Yeah! You can go to Disney Fine Art & Photography website http://www.disneyeventphotography.com/index.html and under contact us send an email to request the VIDEO dvd info sent to you. Its a full real wedding of a wedding planner's wedding from a few years ago. Has a lot of good info that helps make sense of the different video packages too. Or if you already have a planner I am sure you could ask them to send you one because they do have copies at Francks! Hope this helps!

He was also the one who was televised during a Wishes wedding for "Disney's Dream Weddings" that aires on WE every now and then. I've seen it on WE two or three times.

That was my wedding and yes, Rev. Tim has been the officiant on many of the televised weddings. Besides our wedding on "Disney's Dream Weddings", I know he did the 1st Disney Wedding, the "Wedding of a Lifetime" for Lifetime TV, Travel Channel's "Royal Treatment", and "A Wedding Story". We truly loved working with Rev Tim. We, too, wanted a religious pseudo-Catholic ceremony (I'm Catholic, but DH is not). We picked the readings after our initial meeting with him before our planning session. I was not particular with our ceremony because I honestly had always believed it would be a traditional wedding mass so we talked to him about our desires and happily let Rev Tim do "his thing".

We were thrilled with everything at both the Rehearsal and on the Wedding Day. At the rehearsal, Rev Tim kept everyone laughing while still getting the job done and answering all the questions that arose. On the Day of the wedding, I personally liked not knowing exactly what he would say. Every word he said felt geniune, not rehearsed at all (like someone else mentioned) even though I know he uses similar formats/vows for each wedding. Our guests raved about him, how wonderful he was as well as the ceremony, and how it really seemed like he "knew" us. They were extremely impressed.

I think if you're a Bride that wants to control every detail of what is said at your ceremony then he may not be the right choice for you. Otherwise, I absolutely recommend him. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Best of luck to you!! :goodvibes

Thank you Bippi. I just requested the DVD. I will also look through my old disney video tapes (yes I have them) to see if I have kcampbell's wedding.
