Central line removed

Since most people have no idea what a central line is, and I know several people on here do, I just wanted to say how excited I am that my dd6 just got her central line out today She has had it in for over a year (it was placed May 2005). It was originally placed because they knew she would need it even though they didn't have a diagnosis. They diagnosed her with Aplastic Anemia shortly after (body not making blood cells) and she had a bone marrow transplant in November. She commented today that she doesn't really remember what it was like not to have it in her. She is excited and looking forward to swimming again.

Anyways, I just wanted to share our good news.

WOW--CONGRATS!!! I know when my dd, now almost 11, had hers at 12 months of age we were soooo glad when it came out at 16 months...you tell your dd to enjoy the freedom and the pool!

When DS had his removed a little over a year ago we had a party!

Our first trip to WDW after that was even more magical because we didn't have to worry about running to the hospital if he ran a fever. He was finally a normal kid again.

When I was a school nurse there was a little girl who had finished treatment for leukemia and didn't need her central line any more.
The class had a COMING OUT party for her.
