Hi everyone! I'm running into problems with centerpieces. Apparently I can't figure out my vision. This is the latest attempt...

Suggestions? I'm thinking the bittersweet (the long branches) need to be shorter. But I still want the height somehow...Initially tried "curling" the branches but they don't stay. Any suggestions for the vase portion are welcome too!

I kind of like them how they are.....cut them down and see which one you like better..and post a pic so we can see that too.

You could also try a flower with a spikier petal at the base to complement the spiky-ness of the bittersweet, like dahlias or zinnias instead of roses.

And one think I've seen that looks cool in the vases is when they line the inside of the vase with a broad green leaf that kinda wraps around the stems... like banana leaves maybe, so you just see a swirl of green through the glass. :thumbsup2

How fun to create your own centerpieces! :goodvibes

Thanks ladies! We plan on working on them more this weekend. A co-worker's suggestion was to bring the color from the top to the bottom somehow - possibly with various orange/red/brown ribbon loops in the roses and some ribbon hanging down.
Other ideas were to use fall-ish popourri or coffee beans as fillers to cover the green leaves and stems.
We thought about the green banana leaf - but there isn't much green in the wedding. (Unless "fall in Ohio" decides to come late this year - then EVERYTHING will be green! :faint: ) ;)

Oh I have seen coffee beans in centerpieces and they are really nice! Very stylish and elegant.

I think what I don't like about it is that you have a very tall element, and a lower element, and they are too far apart. So you would have to either:

a)make the tall element even taller and really contrast.
b)make the tall element shorter so it ties in to the base.
c)add a sort of middle element

I think it just all needs to tie in a little better.

I don't know what your colors are but if you are doing a fall theme, I would bring in some burgandy flowers that are a little more spikey like Lurkyloo said but you can still keep the roses to soften up the centerpiece just a bit. I would pull up the flowers a bit more and not have them so low to the bottom, I would also do the coffee beans or some other kind of filler but make it so you can't see them stems.

I can see it in my head but its so hard to explain. I love the look of the top flowers. I think they are very unique but i would add a bit more of a burgandy or a rust colored flower. Mums would also be nice if you want to frame the bottom of the vase still. Maybe you can bring up the roses higher and then put some mums around the bottom or maybe even some fall leaves?

...and the "smooshed" version - which isn't our favorite...we still like the taller options above...but still had to show them!

I'm going to be no help at all right now, but I really like the "smooshed" version! This is just my personal taste though. If you love the tall, then definitely go with that! They both look lovely!!
