We filled out the census over a week ago when arrived and dropped it off at the post office right after we filled it out.

We received another census form today in the mail, the exact same questionnaire. Has this happened to anyone? We don't have to fill that one out too since its the EXACT same form as before do we? :confused3

The same thing happened to me. I completed the Census the day it arrived and mailed it the next day. Today, I got another one. What a waste of postage.

I will be so annoyed if I go home today and I have one sitting in my mailbox as I mailed ours out over a week ago.

Obtaining the addresses for every single residence in the United States was not an easy task. There are bound to be problems.

Please just write DUPLICATE on the form and drop it back in the mail box (postage paid).

WE have yet to get a single cenus related item. I mean good grief DH and I are both registered voters, file income taxes, have had address for over 6 yrs, get mail at house most days, Socoial secrity, IRS , State, junk mailers can find us why can't cenus? The house hasn't moved in over 30+ yrs. What's a girl to do?

We didn't even get a form and we've been in this house for 11 years. Guess we don't count.

We filled ours out right away and mailed it back the next day and today got another one in the mail. We just threw that one away.

Happened here too. Lived here for 24 years.
Also happened at the house in AZ where DD lives. That address has only been around for 1 1/2 years.

Just threw away the second.

Unfortunately, the IRS (and other government agencies) do not share information with the Census and the Census does not share information with any other agencies. The only information released is "statistical" information.

Yes, we've received 6 census forms for sure. There may have been others. We threw away our extras as well. In 2020, maybe there could be something on the outside asking us to write "duplicate" on the envelope and then we could return to sender.

We got another one today, too. Maybe they want us to be able to change our minds if we didn't get the first forms right. I wrote "same as last week" on mine, but my wife threw it out before I could mail it.

Guy on Facebook posting about filling out the census form: "Under Race, I put 'Daytona'. I hope I win"

I read in the paper, just today, that additional forms were mailed out to targeted areas that had low response rates to the 2000 Census.

This is correct. The Census Bureau also says that to send a person out to follow-up on a form not mailed back costs roughly $60 per house when you factor in administrative costs, gas, salaries, etc. It's much cheaper overall to send out another form as a polite nudge to send it back before investing all that manpower.
