cell phones or walkie talkies?

I just posted this question over on mouseplanet so sorry if you see both. My question is: when you are with a larger group and you split up what do you use to communicate, cell phones or walkie talkies? I'm for cell phones, my dh wants walkie talkies this time-so we are still discussing it. If your vote is for walkie talkies which brand do you prefer? Thanks!

We use our cell phones and find they work the best.

If the person we are trying to contact is in a ride, we leave a message, and when they exit, they get it... saves a lot of blipping back and forth and getting no response.

Cell phones hands down get my vote.
WT's there was too much interference to be as useful as I would have liked.

I forgot to add, with Cell phones you can set it on vibrate, so you dont have to worry about crowd noise or disturbing others with the ring...

My vote is for texting with cell phones! If you are on a ride then you can reply as soon as you get off and its easier/faster than checking your voicemail. We added the walkie talkie feature to our cell phones last time we went and we barely used it. It was easier to just call and you could hear better!

I think it depends.... I'm from canada so for us to use our cell phones would cost and arm and leg and probley a few toes ..... So we are probley gonna be using walkie talkies for that reason. If you live around there or have an all american plan then i would probley go for the cell phones, why waste money on walkies talkies if you don't have to! Plus if you don't get the right ones then if your on 2 diffrent sides of the park you might not work.... Your husband probley wants the walkie talkies cause hes a man and men like gadets lol..... If you decied to get walkie talkies let us all know if they worked good!

Yea! And when you're in crowds, the WT are so loud and people here what the person is saying. I vote for cell phones, but be careful not to lose them. I'm 13 years old and usually, my sister(18) and I seperate from our parents to go to the rides we want or to get fastpasses while they are buying food. For us, it's better for my sister to handle the cell phone stuff, because I can lose mine easily...!!!

Ain't that the truth! We went on one of our earlier trips with the WT. They did not get good reception. So in the top of the closet they sit.

On the other hand, even with cell phones when you are in a building sometimes there is no reception. However, my phone always let's me know I missed a call so it's no big deal. You just have to return the call when you get outside.

My vote is hands down for the cell phones. We bought my son a go-phone right before we left last year. Fantastic! Best I remember it costs a dollar a day, plus text charges, if you need that. We just usually fill it up with $50 which last him another 6 months after we get back.

Of course, my DH's and my bill are not so cheap but I figure a $300 phone bill once a year is well worth keeping up with each other at DL. Ours would not be that much except that my DH calls my DD and me ALL THE TIME when we are not together! He loves those gadgets.... and is such a worry wart!

I think walkie talkies work better because they are WAY louder than most cell phones.

Plus you can make up some funny names for each other

we use our cell phones. did the walkie talkies on a couple of trips (back in the day before unlimited cell plans!) and they didn't work that great for us. now the 3 adults all have cells and we text or call when we need someone.

We don't call much, but we sometimes text real quick. Otherwise, we pretty much make plans before separating as far as where we'll meet and when.

We use our cell phones. My inlaws used walkie talkies one year and it drove us nuts. Them always trying to find a channel that worked, and they'd mostly get other people in the park, not family members. They were just so loud too! Annoying!

We use our cell phones a few times during the day. Usually DH and DS will go on a ride, and I'll walk through a store or two. So we call eachother to meet back up.

Radios tend to be hanging out somewhere. Im soo used to carrying radios now, i usually hang it on my collar shirt. for Cellphones, make sure its on vibrate.

Walkie talkies didn't work for us..too many other voices coming in, static, etc. We have an ancient TracFone but the kids all have regular cells so I think we'll upgrade to a newer Trac with texting..and smaller and cuter too Heck, they are only 20.00 (yes, minutes are awful, but since we rarely use them, we'll be fine using alot this one time)

cell phones. It's so freakin' noisy all around you that you often can't hear your phone ring, but you can feel it if it's on vibrate. Plus you can text if it's too noisy to talk. Might lose reception in buildings or bathrooms, but you can leave messages. We could not have survived without our cells this trip last week.
