I joined the 21st century this past weekend and graduated to a cell phone that does more than make phone calls. What applications do you recommend and which ones should I avoid? Thanks!

I really like Pandora. It's a music ap. I also have Lookout. Virus protection.

I have never played with one of those and the apps probably wont be the same as the big 3, Droid, iPhone, Blackberry. If you are really wanting a smartphone and have sprint. I would if you can go back and get an EVO or another Android device. If AT&T you can go with a Droid or a iPhone. I have all 3 due to my work and currently prefer the iPhone, but Driod is deeply stepping on its heals. So either of those would be my choice. BB yeah not so much IMHO.

I didn't want to put out the $$ for the EVO since it would be totally out of pocket. I thought I would start simpler, get used to all the advances in technology, then consider one of the 4G models next year when I will be eligible for the phone discounts or I can transfer to another provider without paying the early termination penalty.

OT but I have a phone that does something all those fancy phones can't touch.
Casio Brigade from Verizon, rated waterproof to 3 feet for 30 minutes, shock proof repeated drops from 6 feet. Bet you can't match that with a Droid or iPhone!:thumbsup2

My cousin and I were having a cell phone feature off at a reunion, mine against her Chocolate.
Text? Yes
Plays Music? Yes
Then I said can yours do this? And dropped it in a glass of water on the table. Her eyes got so big!
It does run Verizon apps and has a full text keyboard. Is a bulky phone though probably due to the keyboard and the ruggedizing. If you get mugged, just hit them with it, would be like throwing a brick!

Sounds like it is a Mil-Spec phone. I loved my Nextel Mil-spec.
