Celiac-confusion about the papers they sent me

I emailed the Special Diets people and they sent a list of restaurants and their GF products; but it seems from reading the forums there are even more items available. Is that correct--are the lists they sent me just a tiny partial list?

Also, just because a restaurant isn't on their list doesn't mean we can't go there, does it? For example, we were hoping to go to the Tangerine Cafe for lunch (Epcot) and it's not listed on there.

I had the impression we could pretty much go to any of the CS or TS restaurants and find something. True or not true?

The lists are nice to get us started, but will we end up limiting ourselves because we thought this is the only thing there is?

While yes you can go to just about any TS or CS location, you will find the most options (at least for CS locations) at the locations listed. They make sure to be well stocked on special gluten free products like buns, desserts, chicken tenders, etc (depending on the location) and to have dedicated gluten free fryers at the CS locations specified. At other locations you'll likely be limitted to things like bunless burgers and no desserts just like at home. If I'm going somewhere like WDW where I know I can get plenty of options by sticking with select locations, I'll stick with those select locations.

For TS locations, I much prefer Disney owned restaurants. For just gluten free, the non-Disney owned should be fine as well. We've got long lists of foods to avoid and the non-Disney locations just aren't equipped to handle this well.

Tangerine is not ownded by WDW so Special Diets can't do anything for you besides get you in contact with a chef if you'd like to discuss your options with somebody there.

Thanks!

Can you tell me how to find out which are Disney-owned and which are not?

I believe that none of the restaurants in World Showcase in Epcot are owned or operated by Disney.

To find out more, you could call back the Special Dietary Needs number. If you didn't save it, you can find contact information in post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread.

Not trying to turn this back on you :teeth: but can you tell us where you'd like to eat? Tangierine Cafe isn't Disney-owned. I can do better with your list than trying to remember on my own :)

Le Cellier and Akershus are both Disney owned. I'm not sure about the rest.

Most if not all of the restaurants at DTD are not Disney owned. I can't recall them off the top of my head because we don't eat at DTD so if there's anywhere in particular you're interested in them ask us about it.

Rainforest Cafe is not not Disney owned. Neither is Yak & Yeti.
