Celebration and Jeanne

Not sure where to post. Does anyone have any info on how Celebration and all the homes there have survived all the hurricanes? We were thinking of purchasing our "forever home" in Celebration, but DH had his doubts. What can I say to him after all the devistating weather in FL. ? Thanks Diane

I just visited Celebration last week. It was before Jeanne though. It was beautiful last week. I just love it there too. I would LOVE to live there. We stay at the hotel there sometimes and always go have breakfast at the Market Street Cafe and walk around afterward. There were trees down everywhere from Charley. But they were in the process of getting those back up. Other than that some roofs lost shingles and stuff but we didn't see anything major. We saw their little local paper with pics from after Charley and it looked pretty bad then. But mostly trees and stuff.

Remind your husband that a hurricane hadn't hit orlando before this year since the 1960s! I used to live their and Tampa and never had a hurricane scare. I would still move back. But then I am a Florida nut. I just LOVE it there!

Skorpie - We all fared quite well considering we have had to deal with three hurricanes in two months. Charley did a great deal of tree and landscape damage to the town, but caused very minor home damage. Frances and Jeanne basically blew down more trees and some of the ones that were fixed after Charley.

Our house had no damage, no water infiltration and our trees and landscaping survived just fine. I think that because all of the homes in town were built since 1994, the code changes due to Andrew probably helped us all. I also think the builders should be commended as well.
