celebrating birthdays

Does DCL only celebrate birthdays that are on the actual date? I know when we were at Disney last year we celebrated MILs birthday quite a few times - lol. Someone in our family will be turning 45 2wks before we cruise and not celebrating the birthday until we board the ship. Will DCL help us celebrate if they know ahead of time?

I'm going to be celebrating my friend's birthday the last night of the cruise and it's not until December so there shouldn't be any problem. Let guest services know and they will have the wait staff bring a cake over to your table and everyone sings. That's what we're doing and I had to special order a sugar free cake because my friend is diabetic.

I got on my birthday last year a nice pin that had micky holding a cake that said "It's my Birthday" Now after this year I will have a matching set-maybe I can wear them for earings?!

How about an anniversary that's not for another 4 months? I told them we weren't celebrating anything around that date when we made reservations, but actually it will be our 20th wedding anniversary in May, ( DH and I have rationalized this spending as the gift to each other) and I've told the kids this is their holiday and some of their birthday presents for the year, so we are really celebrating EVERYTHING with this expense that my family will let me get away with!

Hey, I havent had a drink since Labor Day and Im planning on indulging on the cruise - with or without a birthday excuse. But honestly my real birthday is 2wks before we leave for our Magical cruise!

I would let them know you are celebrating.

We just got back last week and my husband's birthday was a few days before the cruise.

On the last night, there was a cake waiting for us on the bed!

We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary in September 01 and I gave my DH a cruise as a gift (we sailed 4/02). TA asked if we were celebrating anything and I told him it was a gift for DH......TA told cruise line it was for an anniversary and they had a cake and some champagne waiting for us on the second nite of the trip.....So it really doesnt matter when.........you just celebrate when you are ready.....JMHO

We will be celebrating my 40th birthday ("real birthday is just 2 weeks before we cruise) AND our 10th anniversary, which happens to be during the cruise. Spoke with DCL and they have it in our ressies to do something for each celebration. I asked if they do it the same night and they said of course not - why get one celebration when you can get two instead ! Am looking forward to those cakes YUM YUM.

No problem celebrating an anniversary early. We celebrated my parents' 50th (and another couple's 50th) anniversary on a cruise last July, even though their actual anniversaries weren't for several months. We told our head waiter about the celebrations on our first evening, and he arranged for us to celebrate the anniversaries on the formal night. Our tables were set with yellow tablecloths and napkins (for the golden anniversaries) that night while everyone else's were white. They also brought two big cakes!

I am sure the champagne was from your TA. We have done one anniversory and one 40th birthday and never got any champagne for free from disney. Did get a nice cake each time though.

We are going with 3 other families - A lot of celebrating will be happening. It is my anniversary and birthday (2 weeks prior). One of the other dad's birthday is 2 days after we get off the cruise and his daughter is 4 days before the cruise!

What a week it will be!!! I am thinking of doing our anniversary dinner in Palos, but after checking the rotation, I think it falls on formal night. It will be fun to be dressed in a gown and tux (and my dd in a gown) for our formal pics on our anniversary - will feel like our wedding again!

What happens if you have already told DCL of an event (In this case, my parents 50th anniversary and our 20th), and you decide to go to Palo's that night? Do they know you aren't going to be there and reschedule the "celebration"? I would hate to have them plan to do something and either my parents or us aren't there to enjoy it! Worse yet, I can see them honoring my parents for their anniversary, and we are in Palo's! Or the reverse!

How do you make sure somebody doesn't miss something?

It's getting really close now.... I'm actually starting to pack!

DH's real, actual birthday is disembarkation day. I have told DCL that I want to celebrate it the Friday night, and they told me that they would know which dining room we are in. My hope is that we will be in Palo that night. I guess to be double-sure (bc I have OCD), I will remind someone on the ship.
