Today is my son's birthday and we were suppose to have a party for him but he has the flu so we had to cancel. We are going to Disney in a month and I was thinking about celebrating his birthday in Disney. I think he would be more excited about celebrating his birthday in Disney then at home. Would you celebrate your child's birthday a month after?

When I was in Disney last time I made my son a shirt that said "It's my 'un-birthday' today" but he was embarrassed and wouldn't wear it (he was nearly 8 at the time).

I would celebrate my child's birthday a month after, while in Disney. Especially since he missed his actual party because he was sick.

They make birthday's so special in Disney: They get a birthday pin, everywhere you go the CMs wish him a happy birthday, and he may get a cupcake at any of the sit down restaurants. If you go to a character meal, he may get a signed card from the characters at the meal.

My son was born at the beginning of September, right as school is beginning again so he doesn't tend to have birthday parties with his friends. Last year we took him Disney for his bday and he loved it.

We ordered a custom cake and it was amazing. There is a cake thread within the Restaurant section where people have posted some amazing cakes photos!! My son was so shocked when they delivered his cake right to our table at our sit down dinner !!!

Also make sure that if you get your child a button to ask about a special 'birthday call' cast members in most stores have a number they can call and Goofy will wish your child a happy birthday!

I wouldn't do it a month away from a birthday. (When we want to celebrate DD's bday in Disney, we actually go on her birthday), but if other people want to do it, that's fine with me.

We did. :thumbsup2

When our DDs were 5 and 7, we were there for the 5 year old's birthday, and so we also did something special for her sister, whose birthday was a month earlier. We did NOT do the birthday button, or get any special desserts, but we did a character meal of her choice as a private family celebration. She was happy with this, since her sister got a character meal for HER birthday. (DD5 did get the button and cupcake, but even at 7, DD understood that it was her sister's actual birthday and it didn't cause a problem)

Since your DS had to miss his actual birthday, I see nothing wrong with celebrating in Disney! After all, even the Queen of England celebrates her birthday in a different month than she was born. princess:
