Celebrating Birthday at WDW

I am so excited, I booked a surprise birthday trip for my DD who will be turning 4 while we are there. My neighbor and her DD4 will be accompanying us as well. Does anyone have any great ideas of how they celebrated a child's birthday while there? I just read about Tinkerbelle leaving gifts and I thought that was great and am planning on trying that. I am also planning on doing the bibbidi bobbidi boutique and then dinner with Cinderella at Park Fare. You all have some creative ideas, so please share!

We go every year for my dd's birthday. Don't forget to get her free birthday buttons at each of the parks! You can get them at guest services, and each park has a different one. The cm's really make a big deal out of those. Also, mention it on every ADR you make! Sometimes they throw in a cupcake or a special dessert for the birthday child, even at breakfast! We did dd's birthday dinner at 1900 Park Fare last year and it was wonderful! Not sure what I have to do to top it this year, lol.

Very cute picture of your daughter! And the dessert looks wonderful - did you have to preorder? Do do you make it a birthday weekend and celebrate it every day - by mentioning it when you make ADRs and visit the different parks? Sounds fun!

DS celebrated his 12th birthday at WDW. It was such fun! Be sure to get the buttons in each park (two are the same, but I can't remember which - maybe AK and MGM?). CMs see them and wish the birthday person a Happy Birthday all day long. Plus sometimes they get free treats and special treatment. DS was allowed to move into the top row (no feet) for Soarin', was moved to the front of the line for another ride (can't remember which) and was given a really cool free red, white, and blue frozen drink in Liberty Tree Tavern. Other guests wished him Happy Birthday, too.

Oh, and in '50's Prime Time Cafe our server (Sister Patty) brought out a birthday card and passed it around the room so everyone could sign it (that still makes me tear up thinking about it). He also got a free dessert there. Patty was hilarious! DS was turning 12 and isn't the talkative type. When Patty asked him what he wanted to drink, he mumbled "mmmmm probably a Coke" (lol he says he has no idea why he said probably". So when Patty brought out our drinks, she set Will's in front of him and in her best devil-may-care teenagery voice she said, "Yeah, that's probably a Coke...I don't know." You had to be there, I guess, but it was just a riot. If you read this, Patty, thank you so much for making our time so special!

Do they do anything special for grown-ups celebrating a birthday at Disney? We will be celebrating a birthday on July 4th while we're there. We have ADR's for Coral Reef that night.

Whispering Canyon Cafe is a great place to go for a meal. The make a huge deal out of birthdays and also provide the free cupcake. Norway's free birthday dessert was a small cake. Chef Mickey's is great because you can get birthday pictures with Mickey and a cake. You can buy caakes from the WDW bakery and they will delivery it to any restaurant on property. I think prices start at around $15 for that.

If you are staying on property letthem know when you check in about the birthday. One year they delivered balloons and a card from the characters free of charge. It was there waiting for my son when we got back to the room (Wilderness Lodge Villas).

Celebrating my 25th BD in the world with my DS8 we are going to 1900 park fare, what else sholld we do . . . ?

Go to California Grill @ the Contemporary and make ADRs for dinner around the time the fireworks go off at the MK. My husband and I celebrated my birthday there and I loved it - Save room for dessert!!!!

Thanks! Yes, we make it a birthday weekend, but try to do something special on her actual birthday. Last year we did the 1900 PF dinner followed by MVMCP. This year I'm not sure yet. We're going in Sept./Oct. and she's doing the Bibbidi Boppidi Boutique followed by MNSSHP, so I have to think of something new, lol. We pre ordered the cake by calling the GF bakery at 407-824-2982. And yes, we mention it at every ADR we make, and make sure she is wearing her birthday buttons every day. It's so neat when all the cm's say "Happy birthday princess". Also, when we were there for her birthday in '04, the Mayor of Main St. saw her button, and announced (very loudly!) to everyone on Main St. that morning "Hear ye, hear ye, I hereby declare that today is Kirstin's birthday in the Magic Kingdom! Let's all wish her a happy birthday!" and then he started singing the Happy Birthday song...then EVERYONE on Main St. joined him. I was bawling like a baby, it was so magical!

Where is the WDW bakery? Is there a telephone number to pre-order? Can I request a custom made cake. My Grandson who will be turning 7 during our stay is requesting a football cake.

For the poster who celebrated at 1900 Park Fare - I noticed your dd is wearing a Cinderella dress, is that common for little girls at that restaurant? We are going in September to celebrate my dd's 4th birthday. She wants to celebrate with Pooh on her big day so we're celebrating at 1900 Park Fare on my birthday a few days later. Really excited!

The # for the GF bakery is 407-824-2982. My dd was wearing a Cinderalla dress. There were lots of little princesses there! Most of the girls were dressed up for the dinner. As far as ordering a cake from the GF bakery, they only deliver to the GF resort and the GF restaurants. If you're not staying or eating there however, you can go by and pick something up.
