Celebrating at POFQ/AKL in September 2015! COMPLETE

As promised, here are some pics from yesterday!

We started out with breakfast at the Rainforest Cafe. I got the breakfast sliders - ate one and gave the other two to my parents since I wasn't too hungry. They were tasty!

We walked around AK for awhile - it was crowded! Got some photos and checked out a few gift shops.

This scene on top of the Restaurantosaurus cracked us up.

It was a little too busy at this park for our liking and our feet were a bit sore so we decided to head over to our new resort, POFQ, to see if our room was ready early. It was! I requested texts to let us know our rooms are ready on this trip but so didn't receive one for POP or POFQ. :confused3

I'll post pics of our room, the resort, and our dinner at Boma later - out of time for now!

We've had great luck with the buses so far and a bus for Port Orleans had just pulled up as we got to the bus stop outside the AK. We headed over to POFQ to see if our room was ready and it was. Our bags weren't there yet from the transfer from POP but we were able to go to our room and then go back to grab the bags about an hour later.

Some pics from POFQ and of our room:

Shortly after we got our bags to the room, the sky opened up and it poured for about half an hour. We tried to wait it out but had to catch a bus to the AKL to make it in time for our dinner ADR at Boma!

Dinner at Boma was delicious as always!

Boma dinner plate 1.jpg

Plate #1 - the mashed potatoes were SO good as well as the pork. The corn and chicken chowder (in the bowl) was also a highlight!

I couldn't resist getting some kid friendly food on my second plate. :) Also, the mashed sweet potatoes were awesome!

And of course, the desserts were yummy as well - they had chocolate chip bread pudding on this night which I guess isn't offered every night. It was really good especially considering that I'm not a big bread pudding fan.

We were incredibly full after this and waddled over to DTD (bus was already there as we walked out of AKL!) to do some window shopping. More pics to come...

I'm so glad you're enjoying POFQ! I know we talked about it quite a bit after my stay there in April. And omg, you got a corner room, too! I think those are the BEST! :cutie:

Mmmmm... Boma. I love Boma so much. I have to have Boma every trip or else I die. True story. ::yes::

We didn't get to bed until 1:30 last night and slept in til 9am. No time for an update with pics this morning so I'll try later! Heading to EPCOT again today - lunch at Le Cellier then we'll head over to 'Ohana later for dinner. The shorts I brought are already snug so I think the buffets are catching up to me - aack! ;)

I'm so happy I found your April trip report or I probably never would have thought to book this room at POFQ! :goodvibes We love this corner room and the location of our building next to the river! I would definitely come back here again.

I believe you! :rotfl: It really is SO good! :thumbsup2

LOL I doubt it's that!
I love Ohana dinner, that's how we are kick starting our vacation on Sunday! Have fun!

How's the weather? I've been reading it's crazy hot but it wasn't cool by any means when I went in 2012 so I'm kinda ready for it. We are in the 100s over here in California but the humidity is a thing I don't deal with much living in the desert.

Hope it doesn't kick our butts!

Glad your enjoying POFQ, we can't wait to see it since we are staying at POR. Oh Boma looks yummy. It's been on our maybe list but I worried about the kiddos! DS would love your kids plate though:) Oh and Le Cellier coming up, I want to go there just to try the cheese soup!!!

Oh man, I'm falling behind with my updates here. May have to finish them when I get home but we'll see how much time I have tomorrow morning - maybe I'll be able to get a few in before we leave for breakfast at Crystal Palace!

The weather was mostly cloudy all morning and early afternoon again today at EPCOT. Really pleasant and I wore jeans again today. I am a bit weird though according to my mom in that I can handle humidity pretty well. The sun did come out as we were leaving for dinner at 'Ohana and I have to admit it was pretty unpleasant! Oh, and once we got into the Poly the skies opened up and it POURED. Tomorrow and Thursday are supposed to heat up to about 94 so I guess I'll be breaking out the snug shorts!

We move to the AKL tomorrow also!! We also booked an open house appt with the Disney Vacation Club tomorrow to see a villa at the AKL after we arrive. We figured why not - just want to gather info and plus they'll be giving us 3 fast passes each for attending. These can be used on any day in any park for the remainder of our trip! The only rides that are excluded are Toy Story Mania, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and Soarin', which we already went on yesterday.

I'll try to get some more pics up in the morning!

I can't believe you're wearing jeans in the humidity!!!

I think it's so cool you're going for the DVC tour, I want to hear how it goes.

How's it going for your mom? Had she been in the pool tons?

I guess I have time to post a few pics from our evening at DTD! We took the bus from the AKL after our dinner at Boma and spent a couple of hours just looking around the shops. I loved the Co-op which is new since our trip in 2010! They had a lot of great kitchen items and these glass Haunted Mansion mugs that I really liked.

Disney Co-op.jpg Haunted Mansion mugs.jpg

We also checked out a shop where an artist was working on glass blowing. Some of the pieces for sale were amazing! The castle and Cinderella's carriage caught our eye - and they only cost $2,500 each! :scared1:

glass castle.jpg Glass Cinderella carriage.jpg

After we were done window shopping we headed over to the boat dock and luckily a boat heading to POFQ had just pulled up! As we were leaving we caught some fireworks behind the Cirque de Soleil building!

DTD fireworks.jpg

Once back at POFQ we admired the cozy feel of the resort at night and took a few photos. Here is one of the path leading to our building:

It was time for bed - next up, pics from EPCOT!

I can't believe you're wearing jeans in the humidity!!!
Then you'll be shocked to hear that they are dark wash jeans and I was also wearing a t-shirt with a button up flannel shirt over it! I know, I'm totally crazy! It came in handy in the air conditioned buildings though and we were in those a lot today!

I'm excited about it and plan to take some photos to share! :thumbsup2

She hasn't been in the pool at all yet. We are both holding out for the pool at the AKL I guess! That will work out nicely since we're moving over there tomorrow and that's when the cloudy weather is supposed to clear up and the temps are forecast to go up quite a bit! Lord help us!!

Wow, great pictures. It's great that each Disney hotel has such great theming. Also, don't worry about shorts getting snug, look at it as an opportunity for Disney souvenir shorts... :D

I'm glad you're enjoying the photos!

I like your thinking on the shorts! :thumbsup2:rotfl:

Omg!!! A flannel too??? I'm questioning your sanity.... I do get hot quickly & I hate sweating.

The AKL pool was nice, it's zero entry, but we really liked the hot tub. It's not a standard hot tub, it's a weird shape so you're not staring right at others in the pool. It was hard to find, it's kind of behind the ladder to the pool.

Well, today didn't exactly go as planned... we were still so full from all of our eating so far this week that we canceled our breakfast at the Crystal Palace. We checked on that last night with them and they said as long as we cancel meals in person the day of we won't get charged the penalty fee of $10/person - that's only for no shows.

The MK was MUCH busier than we were expecting it to be this morning and early afternoon. Kind of disappointing since predictions were for crowds to be at a level 1 today. I'd say it was more like level 3-4... the wait for Peter Pan was 55 minutes if that gives you an idea... 25 for the Jungle Cruise and 15 for Haunted Mansion. Oh well... we still were able to grab fast passes for the Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, and Thunder Mountain.

We didn't eat lunch anywhere today - just got citrus swirls in Adventure Land which were very tasty and wonderfully refreshing!

After our rides, we went up to the train station to watch the Festival of Fantasy Parade. That's a great viewing location with a roof over portions of it for some shade. Did I mention that it was much hotter and more humid today?? I was wearing jeans (no flannel shirt this time @Angeejoe !) and I was melting a bit... okay, a lot! ;)

My mom and I left to go check in at the AKL after the parade and my dad stayed to "poke around" and take more pics. He also rode the Jungle Cruise again since that's one of his favorites. He met us later for dinner at Sanaa. It took about 25 minutes on the bus to get back to the AKL and by then we'd missed our appointment to see the DVC villa... oh well...

Now we're back in the room early to get to sleep earlier tonight. I feel like I'm getting sick... boo! Tomorrow we have breakfast at Boma at 7:30am and then we're heading to the AK! After that we'll head over to the MK for the evening and we have a dinner ADR that we're all looking forward to - BOG!!

I'm way behind on pics - it takes a long time to download them and then try to post them. I'm not up with the times and don't have a smart phone. I'll post photos of each day after I get back to Denver (or before if I find some extra time)!

Yep! It wasn't too bad yesterday except for when the sun came out for a bit in the late afternoon. Today was a different story but I still survived. I was going to wear shorts but just couldn't bring myself to endure them. I'll try them again tomorrow since I've had a day to deflate from buffets! :rotfl2:

The pool here is really nice - I love how big it is (the new one at the Poly is quite small in comparison) and I love the different small seating areas tucked away from the main pool. We also really liked the hot tub! :thumbsup2

I have to admit that my mom and I are kind of missing POFQ. We got a bit attached to it I guess! My dad is happy to be at the AKL since he loves this resort. Our room is very nice. I booked a standard and requested to be near the lobby which worked out well. We are over the roof of Boma and have a view of the roof and of the pool.

I think you need to invest in some stretchy waist band shorts :rotfl2:because it's too hot for pants!

What's the plans tomorrow?
