We have just booked to go to WDW next year to celebrate a 50th Birthday. We have been 3 times before, but not for any major reason - just for a vacation! Any ideas to what we can do to make this trip special? Anywhere we should go? Any way we can celebrate in the parks?

Also, have you ever been to WDW for a special occasion such as a birthday - I would love to hear your stories about what made that trip special/different... :)

Thanks in advance...

I spent a birthday at WDW. Really my favorite part was celebrating at the world showcase in Epcot. I just think being at WDW is a celebration in itself. Nothing else I can say. Except congratulations and have a wonderful time!

Thanks for your reply! We love WS too, lovely atmosphere! :) Yes, that is true - being at WDW should be celebrated too. It isn't even my birthday we are going for, I am just planning the whole vacation! Just trying to get some ideas... Thank you! Really looking forward to it already even though we have over a year to wait!!

Cinderella's Royal Table in MK is really nice. We have seen folks get engaged there and celebrate b-days. You can preorder a special dessert - chocolate Cinderella slipper (if you google search you can find a photo - chocolate heaven!).

Ask for a birthday button at your resort, or at any guest relations if you are staying off site. The celebrant is sure to get plenty of well wishes from the CMs when they see the button. Since its a 50th birthday, you might consider a signature restaurant for dinner. You can call Disney dining and have a note added to your ADRs about the birthday. Your server(s) may do nothing, or they may treat you to confetti sprinkles or even a birthday cupcake. You can call ahead and order a birthday cake to be served at one of your ADRs. There is a cake thread that discusses options and prices.

Yum! That Chocolate Cinderella Slipper looks delicious! Do you know if any other restaurants have special desserts like that?

Thank you! I had forgotten about the buttons, hopefully lots of CM's will say happy birthday! Have you got any suggestions on signature restaurants? Oh, phoning Disney Dining is a good idea - maybe they'd do something? Ah, I never realised you could order birthday cake - that is a fabulous idea. Will definitely look into that. Thank you very much for your help/suggestions!

You're welcome. I'd pick a signature that is in or close to the park you will be in that day. Saves a lot on traveling time.
That is a good plan :) I will take a look. Just looked at the cakes and they look delicious - and not too bad pricing considering they are on Disney property - I was expecting much higher!!

We did that dessert at 1900 park fare dinner. It was good, and the characters really ham it up there. If you can't get in crt, do that. Also, bring a birthday card with you to epcot, and have the cms sign it at the kidcot station in their languages. Buy the mickey ears birthday hat, it seems to garner more attention than the buttons.

Starting to think CRT and characters may not be as appreciated by the 50yr old celebrant!! But I really do like the birthday card idea - what a lovely souvenir of the trip! Not sure the celebrant will want to wear Mickey ears. But button would be fine. I'm surprised they haven't done something with MM+ for birthdays yet. Reckon that might be in the works? Thanks for your suggestions!

Took my husband for his 50th a couple of years ago - ordered a custom cake tombstones and all, reserved his fav restaurant for dinner and had one of the awesome DISers design a transfer that I ironed onto a t shirt that he wore the full day. He loved every bit of it or so he said :)

At Via Napoli, some of the wait staff sang Happy Birthday to my wife in Italian. And we are going again for another Wedding Anniversary...27, and have always had Cast Members congratulate us and even go a free dessert at a restaurant.

I've been a couple of times on my birthday, always get loads of birthday wishes from cast members when I wear the button. Sometimes I've gotten a special dessert. One year I got a pin from each country at WS, bought post cards from each country and had a cast member write happy birthday in their language. When I got home I framed it all, great memory.

Another fun thing to try is "Pick A Pearl" in the Japanese Pavilion - Epcot. You pick an oyster - they open it to reveal your pearl! You may get a unique color or even two pearls. They make it a fun experience. It is only about $15. You can have your pearl mounted onto a piece of jewelry. They have a nice selection - rings, charms, bracelets, earring, necklaces - such fun!

As a Local, my family surprised me on my 50th with an am Keys to the Kingdom tour followed by a bit of 'play time' in MK. Home for clean up and fireworks dinner at CG along with a ginormous Mickey Cake, lots of confetti, and probably too much champagne. So much fun! pixiedust:pixiedust:
