My parents are taking my whole family (5 cabins in all) on the Dream in July to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Any ideas on what we can do to make the cruise special for them? Any good places on the ship or at Castaway Cay to get a great family picture? Any other ideas, suggestions???

You will have plenty of opportunities to take a great family photo. There will be a photographer as soon as you get off the ship at Castaway Cay, they take pics of the family with the ship in the background.

Another idea is to go to in in room gifts page on DCL website. Maybe send them a bottle of champagne or a fruit basket, it will be waiting for them in their room when they first arrive.

Your post tugged at my heart strings. I urged my parents to do this for the 50th...they didn't and now one of the grandchildren has passed away...family time is more precious than I think we realize...so, my suggestion is to book a private photography session....the memories you can document are priceless!!! Have an amazing celebration!!

We just did this last week for my parents' 50th Anniversary. I think having the family together was the best thing. That said, I did order a first/last night wine package for them. They got Asti on the first night and Champagne on the last. We did get several great family pics taken(just by taking advantage of the many opportunities, not a scheduled session) and as a surprise I took a photo mat and dropped it off at Guest Services to have the characters sign it. It will be a great momento!

We are celebrating my parents' 50th in August. I'm making them a little welcome gift with together since 1965 shirts, cups to use on the cruise, etc. Then I'll make them a Shutterfly book of the pictures.

I'm also trying to figure out how to make a 50th anniversary sign to hang on their fish.

Make sure guest services knows so the dining room staff plan a celebration.

May I suggest adding a vow renewal, either onboard the ship, or on Castaway Cay? It's one of the lowest priced and most intimate of the Disney Weddings offerings.

We did this with my parents in April on the Wonder. We had special t-shirts, an FE just for them (I made sure the cruise FE groups knew they weren't part of an FE group), brunch at Palo, cabanas on Castaway Cay, etc. They loved it.
