Celebrating 2007 with two weeks at the World...with pics; updated:a Day at MGM!

I am glad you had a great trip. Max is too cute - that first picture you posted and those eyes - had me at first sight.

I can relate to some of Max's stories - my son had 3 WDW trips under his belt before he was diagnosed with OCD and Tourette Syndrome. Made for some interesting times :)

Looking forward to reading more. Good for you for scheduling in "date time". We did this for the first time this past trip and it is definitely something that will be a "must do" for future trips.

Thank you! I love his big brown eyes - they make me melt. He doesn't know that yet, but no doubt as soon as he figures it out he'll make good use of them. ;)

Thanks for your empathy - it has been such a relief to have Max diagnosed with the ADHD and a plan to treat. It makes us feel less helpless as parents - there is a REASON he couldn't listen and control his impulses. It wasn't bad parenting.

I love our date time - we don't get any of it at home so we treasure it at WDW. And it's funny...I spent 24/7 with DH and yet I missed him. We sit up almost every night at home and chat about things and with Max there all the
time in the room, we didn't get to do this.

Yet another fantastic day - what a lot of pixie dust Max had with his pins. I'm dying to know if you ever got the Beach Club pin but I guess I'll have to be patient ;)

Coral Reef sounds lovely and it's nice to know that the steak there is good as DH and I aren't 'seafood' people.

You have some wonderful picture of your 'little man' - he is so photogenic and they are just so cute at that age

BTW, the 'little bear' pin is indeed Ojo from Bear in the Big Blue House - was a firm favourite of DS's when he was younger. He also loves Buzz and Woody and Little Einsteins so I know he'd approve of Max's pin collection. My youngest DD started collecting pins in October but she was a bit too shy to trade - I am hoping maybe on our next trip, she may get up the courage :)

Keep the reports coming :thumbsup2 I want to hear about the pirates pirate:

Ojo! I remember that bear now! Alas, Max did get into pin trading a bit later and Ojo is no more.

Let your DD know that all she has to do to trade is wear her lanyard and just even glance at the CM's lanyards. They whip them out to show for trades with any hint of interest.

Interesting note about CM pin lanyards: We asked a CM at Goofy's Candy Co how they picked their own pins and she said they were provided by Disney. She gestured to the CM only storeroom door and said "we have tons of filled lanyards back there. We just grab one when we get to work."

A lot of the CMs had "mystery pins" too - pins turned around so you can only see the Mickey black back. They were all great about them with Max - they would not show him the pin, but steer him away from them if they thought he wouldn't be interested (Princesses, usually). DH had been into pin collecting and not trading so we learned tons about pin collecting, trading, wearing, etiquette, etc. Fun stuff!

I'm off to write about the Pirate Cruise now...a fantastic event!!

What a great day, your DS was so lucky with all the pins, the CM's were lovely! How lovely to have a little me time too!

He gets even luckier with pins - I was amazed!

Last year we decided to sign Max up to take the Pirate Cruise at the Grand Floridian. He had a great time and we knew he'd want to go again. He got some money from my Grandma for Christmas and decided to put it towards this.

You book the Pirate Cruise through WDW-DINE in advance and guarantee it with a credit card. You have 24 hours prior to the event to cancel - 24 hours before they charge it to your credit card. You just bring your child down to the marina at the resort and sign the receipt, get a pager, and watch them leave screaming "ARRRRR!" at the top of their lungs.

In addition to the PC at the GF, there is the Albatross Pirate Cruise at the Beach Club and the Jester Cruise at POFQ. Since we were at the BCV at the time and he'd already done the GF Cruise, we booked him on the Albatross cruise.

I still hadn’t remembered to do a wake up call this day, but the alarm was set and we were up and ready in time for Max's Albatross Pirate Cruise. It was also full clean day, so we straightened up a few things in the room and walked down to the BC/YC Marina. On the way down, I realized Max hadn't put on the right shorts and he was sporting a huge goober of some sort on the side. We ran back up to the room and interrupted the Mousekeepers. I can swear that they use enormous amounts of cleaner and do a more thorough and quick job than I have ever in my life done when cleaning...!

Max was excited and thanks to our detour, we were the last to arrive. He got his nametag and life jacket all settled and then they tied his black and white pirate bandana around his head.

BCV5-4-07piratecruiseII.jpg

They got the rules of being pirates and all walked in a cute little line like ducks towards the Pirate Ship

BCV5-4-07piratecruiseVIII.jpg

Settled themselves into their own version of the Black Pearl...:rotfl:

BCV5-4-07piratecruiseIII.jpg

And sailed away on the treasure hunt towards the Swan and Dolphin:

BCV5-4-07piratecruiseIV.jpg

Goofy and I took photos - some of which are just absolutely adorable, but I don't want to post any photos of other children - and waved him goodbye, the phrase “we’ll be back between 11:10 and 11:20” ringing in our ears. Almost two hours on our own! I had made an ADR at Spoodles for breakfast for two, so we took the Friendship across with a few other parents who had dropped off their little sweethearts for the PCruise. We watched with sympathy as a very harried set of parents got off the boat at the Beach Club, saying something about Epcot. The mom looked very spent and the dad looked confused. And color me sexist, but there is nothing like not knowing exactly where he’s going to really frustrate a man. Goofy and I weren’t close enough to them to say anything about the boat eventually going to Epcot, and I wasn’t sure that was the problem until Goofy mentioned it to me, once we boarded. I felt bad and was happy when they got back on the boat – someone apparently set them straight.

We sailed across Crescent Lake and got off at the Boardwalk. Spoodles was a 30 second walk from there and we surprised the hostess when we told her we had ADR’s. Apparently 10:00 am on a Friday in early May isn’t high season at Spoodles…

BCV5-4-07Spoodles.jpg

We both ordered the skillet breakfast and DH got a coke. I asked for ice water. We were able to sit back and really enjoy a solo breakfast while DS had a blast. Even though the skillets were all you care to eat, we weren’t hungry enough for any seconds. In fact, neither of us finished our firsts. Table.

We paid for breakfast (10% DVC discount baybee!) and walked back to the Beach Club. We stopped on the bridge to take some panoramic shots of the resorts and then continued back to the resort. We sat near the marina for a while before the Pirate Cruiseship came zooming in from Epcot. They took off and sailed right up onto the beach by the Albatross – aka the big shipwreck slide at SAB.

BCV5-4-07piratecruiseV.jpg

We watched from the boat dock by the lighthouse as they all walked off the boat one by one like little ducks. They walked around the slide area, behind the slide to the road and then suddenly we saw one of the Pirate CM’s go dashing across the beach carrying a treasure chest…with about 12 little blue lifevest clad mini pirates in hot pursuit.

BCV5-4-07piratecruiseVI.jpg

In no time at all they had overcome her and she was tackled on the sand, the treasure chest repossessed.

BCV5-4-07piratecruiseVII.jpg

We made our way back to the marina to wait with the other parents and suddenly a CM working at the marina came dashing through, throwing on his own pirate costume. He hopped on a sea racer, after attaching his ownb pirate flag to the back, and raced off to the ship. We couldn't figure out if he was part of the whole story or if the boat was stuck up on the beach. They had really gunned the motor when they parked on the beach, so it was possible. The CM departed and soon our little pirates were back. My camera battery died right after the pirates got their loot so I didn’t get any photos when they got back.

DS had a blast – they went to the Swan and Dolphin for a clue, then to the Boardwalk, then Canada and Mexico at Epcot for more clues. After this, they had a picnic lunch on the boat in the middle of the World Showcase lagoon (PB&J sandwiches, cookies, juice boxes and smarties candy) and finally came back to the Beach Club for the final clue and treasure. DS got to keep his bandana and got a nice bag o’ loot filled with a pirate chest, rings, necklaces, an eye patch, some sticky toy that sticks to absolutely everything, a few “gold” coins and other piratey things. He gave me the lovely plastic rings. My own little Jack Sparrow sharing his loot...

The cost of the two hour adventure is $30 and truly worth it for your adventurous kidlings. There were boys and girls and they all seemed to have a fantastic time. Each child gets a "buddy" assigned so they aren't on their own. Max talked about it for the rest of the trip.

Overall? An excellent morning!

Next up: A trip to Target and Max finally gets to go to the Sandcastle Club!

I signed my ds up for the pirate cruise at the GF, for Oct. Did you find that they were similar? I am really excited for him to do it.

I am glad your ds got over his melt down rather fast. I am sure you are great at handling him in those situations. He sure is a cutie-pie!

BTW, I love you tag...SuperT has a very special place in my heart...

DS and I have just sat and read your latest update. H ehas decided the Pirates Cruise is definitely for him so I guess we will be booking for next April :)

DS also said 'He looks nice and friendly' when he saw Max's picture - that was then followed by 'Does he live in the Merica'? And then 'Oh, so he can't come to my school then' :rotfl:

Great update and lovely that you and Goofy got some precious time together. Couple time is really important when you have kids

your little max is so cute!

I would love to have my DS do the P. Cruise but he is still too small. I want to sign him up for next year but he will only be 3 and 9 months when we go, do you think those 3 months will be a big deal? will they not let hom do it even though he will be almost 4?

Cant wait for your next installment. :surfweb:

This has been a great read so far. When I have kids I am soooo signing them up for the pirate cruise... if it still exists by then. :)

They are both the same in format - last year at the GF DS got the pirate hats with Mickey ears instead of the bandana, but that could be the difference between 2006 and 2007. At the GF, they go to the Poly, Contemporary, WL, and Ft Wilderness instead of the Swan/Dolphin, BW, and Epcot. The picnic lunch was the same and so was the treasure chest at the end. I asked him just now which he liked better and he said he liked both of them the same. ;)

And thanks - I love my tag too. In fact, SuperT is next up in the TR!

I'm so glad your DS wants to go!! He will just have so much fun! I love the comments about school - it's so sweet how little boys (and girls too, I'm sure) make "friends" so easily.

I'm not sure how stickler they are for the age - I know potty trained is a biggie though.

Thanks! It is one of DS's favorite "adventures" to do at WDW.

After we left the marina from the Pirate Cruise, we decided to get the car and head to Target (looooove Target!!!). As usual, I had forgotten a few things we needed when we were at Walmart/Sonic so we needed to duck out to pick them up (pool noodles, sun block for face, more bottled water). I also needed to get my sunglasses out of the car, and I needed to charge up my cell phone so we went up to the lobby and called for the car. We hopped in and drove to....(can you hear the angels singing???):

WDWMay2006STarget.jpg

Yes dear readers - in honor of my tag, I took a photo of SuperTarget in Orlando. I mean what could be better than SuperTarget and WDW? SuperTarget AT WDW....:cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

(Except when I'm at WDW, I get itchy every time we leave property and can't really enjoy the ST experience...:rotfl2: )

We ended up picking up a few more things we knew we’d need – travel size laundry detergent and fabric softener, bottled water, fruit for Max in the room, etc. And for Max? He found a set of three tiny transformers on clearance for $3.48. Sigh. Transformers. I asked him if he still wanted to go to the Sandcastle Club since he could play with transformers in the room and he assured me that he did.

From Target we went back to the BCV for a rest before spending the whole afternoon at Stormalong Bay. We had a great time at the pool – it is one of the reasons we really like staying at the Beach Club. While I hit the Lazy River, Goofy and Max finally took on the Big Slide:

WDWMay2006slide.jpg

WDWMay2006slideII.jpg

The boys came back to meet me on the Lazy River and we swam together for a while until Max wanted to dig in the sand and I wanted to veg out with a book. So Goofy and Max headed for the kids pool where Max was busted by a lifeguard for having a contraband snorkel  Goofy and Max met another nice family by the kid’s pool – DH seems to attract conversation around pools, doesn’t he? While I spent a little “mom time” by the pool with a great book (can't remember the title, but it was one of those Janet Evanovich romances :thumbsup2 ) and all in all it was a fabulous and relaxing afternoon.

As it got later, we went back to the room to get ready for dinner and went over to the AKL for dinner at Boma. Goofy isn’t a fan here – he usually eats prime rib and things on the children’s pod – but he humors me. Max loves Boma because of the watermelon. He had some mac and cheese and then two entire plates of fruit. I loved Boma as usual. Our service was polite and nice and it was great to hand over the room key to use those TS credits.

After dinner we went to the Mara to spend some Snack Credits. We had gotten behind and needed to use some. I picked out two containers of 5 zebra domes to have in the room and a container of kalamata olive hummus (yum!!). While I was drooling over the desserts, Goofy happened upon a new brand of cocktails:

BCV5-4-07MaraCocktails.jpg

I was tempted to buy these, since they were already stamped with my name ;)

From the Mara, we went to the Zawadi Marketplace to browse and then back to the BCV through a ton of lightning. We weren’t sure at first if it was lightning or fireworks somewhere, but when we saw the streaks of bolts across the sky, we knew it was the real thing.

Back at BCV, we hit the Marketplace for some pretzels to go with the hummus and a box of Mickey animal cookies for DS. After shopping for a while we went back to the room to enjoy a quiet evening. I hadn’t had a chance to catch up on my sleep since our first night and a quiet evening was nice and well appreciated...!

Up next: The Princess forgets something important and Magic Kingdom, here we come!!

Jenn what great installments you have been busy writing :) The pirate cruise sounds great so much fun DS looks really sweet as a pirate! This sounds so daft but I really want to visit a Target when we go to Florida :rotfl2:

Enjoying your actual trip... I read your pretrip and am so glad to know it was a great trip!

Thank you!! And I would never say anyone was daft for wanting to go to a Super Target :rotfl: My best friend and I actually schedule dates every few weeks to do a SuperT browse and dinner.

Wow. That sounds sad, doesn't it?? :lmao:

Enjoying your actual trip... I read your pretrip and am so glad to know it was a great trip!

Thank you! It was absolutely wonderful!

This morning we woke up early to Mickey’s wake up service and managed to stumble around out of bed and got ready to go. One of my "must do's" on my list for this trip was to get to a park at opening just once to see the difference. Today, I wanted to hit the Magic Kingdom closely after opening, and we had CS credits to spare so we thought we’d go to WL first to get some breakfast at Roaring Fork. We got the car, drove over to the most beautiful resort in the world and walked into that glorious lobby. I tried to get Max to rub Humphrey’s nose while I took a photo but he really didn’t want to. I couldn’t figure out why not, but later he confessed that there were too many people around and he was also confused when I told him all the kids who stayed at VWL and WL rubbed Humphrey’s nose as luck to come back. He said, “We’re not staying here.”

Sigh.

I guess “we will be, next week” didn’t matter.

We went down to Roaring Fork, which was packed, and were debating how hungry we really were when Goofy said, “you have the tickets, right?”

I stopped and thought for a moment. You know what? I made the accommodation reservations. I booked $1000+ flights all on miles. I made all kinds of great ADR’s 180 days or so in advance getting all the times we wanted. I booked a fun Pirate Cruise for DS, Grand Adventures in Cooking, and plenty of date time for DH and me. I packed everything we needed, forgetting almost nothing. I horded tax return money to pay for the DDP with minimum pain to our bank account. I saved us $168 +$100 DVC discount on DH’s AP. I am a Terrific Vacation Planner. :thumbsup2

I didn’t have the tickets. :sad2:

That morning, I had pulled a $20 and my room key out of the black wallet on a string. At the time, I had thought about asking Goofy if I needed it for anything else (debit card, license, etc) but didn’t. If I had, he would have said, “do you have the tickets?”

Sigh. And I would have said, "duh! You're right. I've got them."

So we drove back to the BCV, where Goofy ran in to get those pesky AP’s. On the way there, he seemed to think it was funny to tease Vacation Planner Extraordinaire about forgetting the tickets. I wasn’t amused. Once we got the tickets back, I began to see even more humor in the situation. Okay, truthfully I thought it was funny right from the get go, but him constantly harping on it was a little irritating.

We went back to the TTC and took the monorail over to the MK. Our first stop once we got inside was over to Adventureland. We hopped right on the Jungle Cruise and enjoyed it quite a bit. We hadn't been on the Jungle Cruise since Max was about 2 - at the time, he was very concerned about my arm resting on the edge of the boat. He was afraid I would get eaten by one of the alligators or hippos. This time he really was able to sit back and enjoy the jokes.

Next, we walked over to Pirates. This is one of the few rides I remember going on as a little girl and I have always loved it. But last year when we were down, it was in rehab to add Johnny De--er---Jack Sparrow. ;) SO it had been 18 months since I had been on my beloved ride. I practically ran to get in line.

However, I was a little distracted on the way...right outside, Jack Sparrow was beginning to show up to pick his new crew. From a slight distance he was quite the Johnny Depp lookalike so I was happy to stand there, drooling slightly, while Goofy laughed at the comedy of the show and Max tugged at my hand to get going on the ride. Jack Sparrow came a bit closer and the difference in his voice and closer up assured me he was NOT actually Johnny Depp in disguise so I was okay leaving to ride Pirates.

But oh…for a few moments there…yum…

We had a 20 minute wait posted, but in reality it was about 10 minutes. I think this was truly the longest wait I have ever had for this ride – at least since I was a kid. I absolutely loved the changes – they were fabulous! The music from the movie, Davy Jones, Barbossa and Jack, Jack, Jack!!

After POC, we decided to stay in the Pirate mode and have lunch at El Pirata Y El Perico. We haven’t seen it open since our honeymoon and thought tacos sounded good.

They had just opened so we were about the 3rd people in line. I didn’t ask for desserts and they weren’t offered. It wasn’t until later than we realized I should have ordered them with the meals. I guess I assumed either the cashier would have asked me or they were just included, since they had one choice. My bad.

The toppings bar was great, and overall it was a great lunch. We sat outside, but shaded, with a good view of the park. Once we finished, we went to the Haunted Mansion. Goofy bribed Max to go on by promising him a HM pin. Max went on with no problems when he heard this! He loved it so much, we went on a second time. We then did a little shopping - did you know it is almost impossible to find a HM pin AT the MK?

After that, it was on to Fantasyland – Peter Pan and Philharmagic. At Philharmagic, it was a true people watch situation. Right in front of us in the waiting area before you enter the theater there was a girl with her parents – she seemed to be about 15…? Goofy had pointed her out to me because her T-shirt said something about "it's all about me" or some such. For some reason he thought maybe I would like a shirt like it for myself...? :rotfl: Anyway, in front of her, there was a couple with their little children…maybe 1 and 3? The little kids were excited and happy and chattering away to their parents and their mom. They were really cute. Soon, Minnie Mouse came on the PA to make a few announcements about how the Philharmagic will be starting soon and we need to stay careful of the automagic doors. While she does this, the toddlers kept chattering. I was absolutely floored a second later when the 15 year old actually rudely shushed them and told them to be quiet. At first I thought she had to be their older sister or something, but when her father angrily shushed her right back and they moved, I could tell the two families were were not together. I guess she really believed her T-shirt :confused3

We also saw a “dream” awarded while we were there – the first official YOMD thing we saw. A CM made an announcement that a family had been selected to play music for us in the waiting area. They had drums, cymbals, etc. It was cute and the children really seemed to enjoy the attention. We all applauded them enthusiastically.

We loved Philharmagic as always and afterwards we moved on closer to Buzz. We stopped at the Enchanted Grove to get some desserts. We ordered the Strawberry Vanilla swirl and the raspberry lemonade slush. Other than the ice cream headaches we all got, they were the perfect refreshing touch on our hot day.

BCV5-5-07EnchantedGrove.jpg

After this, we went on Buzz and as usual, I stunk. DS, who hasn’t really gotten the gist of the shooting yet did really well at 6800 (he hit something that was 5000 points). I somehow managed to hit a 10,000 target and ended up with 11,600. I was lucky to get that - Max likes to man the controls so when I ride with him we do a lot of spinning. Goofy kicked both our butts with 128,000+.

Did I mention I suck at this game? I still enjoy it though.

We then went on the TTA – I love this ride. It is gentle, breezy, long enough for a good break, and a nice peek into some Tomorrowland buildings. We sat back, relaxed, and chatted as we rode through Tomorrowland and the rides.

When we got off the TTA, it was getting close to 3:00 and we decided it was a good time to head out of the park before the parade hit Main Street. Except the Laugh Floor had a 5 minute wait. Hmmmmm…

We were there already – it was five minutes. We decided to walk on in and see what the newest the MK had to offer was all about. The wait was similar to Philharmagic – not bad, but I think they lied about the “5 minutes” thing. Once inside, we sat down on long plastic light blue benches and enjoyed the show. They do a lot of audience shots on a large screen and I was terrified I would end up on there. I had decided my sunscreen probably had worn off long ago and my face had to be tomato sunburn red. Later I discovered it wasn’t, but at the time vanity was a concern.

The show was very cute and the audience shots were funny for some and not so funny for others, depending on the person they interviewed. The kids were very cute, but one adult was…not? She was trying really hard to be cute and it came off as trying too hard. But overall? We really enjoyed the new attraction. Nice for kids humor, yet still enough for the adults.

Afterwards, we made our way to the front of the park. The end of the parade was in the middle of Main Street, so we were able to walk comfortably to get to the entrance. The down side? Lots of people leave after the parade. We waited a little while (5 minutes?) in the monorail line and were soon seated in air conditioned splendor on our way back to the TTA.

Once there we took advantage of the remote starter on the keychain and got into a nice cool car to go to back to the BCV. We got back to the room around 4:15 and DS took a quick nap while DH and I vegged for a while and then began to get ready for dinner. Goofy dropped Max off at the Sandcastle Club – where he practically ran inside – and then came back to get me. I finished getting freshened up early, so I thought I'd take the elevator down to the lobby and meet him. Once outside the elevator, I looked at the numbers above the second elevator and saw them stop at “3” - the floor our room was on. I smiled, thinking how funny it would be if that were Goofy coming back. I kept walking towards the BC and didn’t see DH so I stopped and called him.

Yup, he was back in the room. We laughed at how close we missed each other and he came back down so we could head over to Epcot.

It had seemed cooler when we first set out, but the humidity was high so it felt muggy on the walk over to Canada. Once there, we checked in behind a family who needed to change their reservation from 4 people to 5. Apparently they had decided to bring their child with them. Their time had to be pushed back close to an hour and they weren’t happy about it. I guess it’s easier to be seated for fewer than you booked, rather than a bigger table.

We checked in next and stood up inside for a while to wait for our table. After just a few minutes, a bench freed up and we were able to sit. Not long after that, they called for “Jennifer for two”. A couple next to us who had just checked in stood up and took the seating. Goofy and I had been expecting to hear our last name, so we hadn’t reacted when we heard my first. He decided to go up and check. The host told him he’d look into it and that our table “would be ready shortly” but as soon as DH sat down there was a mini flurry of activity. A minute later the couple came back up the ramp and a hostess laughed about “imagine – two Jennifers!” As someone who grew up always being one of many Jennifers, I wasn’t quite as surprised…; )

We were seated between a family of four with two daughters and a couple. Our table was for 4, and we sat closer to the family, with the empty chairs next to the couple. I hate when we sit practically on top on the people next to us, so we gave them a little extra privacy.

Our server was very nice – she let us know which province we were seated in (never had that before). I believe we were in New Brunswick. She explained the DDP and let us know we could order shakes and other non alcoholic drinks. For some reason, DH and I decided that ordering chocolate shakes for dinner drinks was ridiculously funny, so we did. We also had water too.

Okay – a quick digression here: I made sure to get a photo of DH drinking his water, as he refuses to drink water 99% of the time. He has to be dying of thirst to do so. I don’t get this, as the water in my city growing up and now has always been delicious. Yes, I know…water? Delicious? But it is!!! I always thought bottled water was bizarre since tap water tasted better. Until I met Goofy. And visited his family in a Chicago suburb. And the water smelled like sulphur. Gack! His parents kept distilled water in the fridge, but DH always preferred juice and soda. I guess I can’t blame him – I used to feel like I smelled like a rotten egg when I’d shower at his parent’s house. But now? He’s been in Wisconsin for almost twelve years now and he still won’t drink water. Weirdo.

So I made him pose when I saw him reduced to drinking some of his water bev...

BCV5-5-07S-water-1.jpg

So back to the TR…

We enjoyed our shakes and felt even more childish about them when the kids at the table next to us ordered Evian. They even had cherries and whipped cream (the shakes - not the Evian :rotfl: ) We decided DS would love one when we brought him back here.

The server came out with the breads and explained the spiel about what they were in honor of. The pretzel bread was hot and we ate that right away. We both ordered the Shrimp Cocktail and I ordered the NY Strip, while Goofy ordered the Mushroom Filet. I told him people raved about it on the food porn thread and he does like mushrooms, so he tried it. He decided he didn’t like mushrooms that much. The filet part was excellent though. For dessert, Goofy ordered a cherry almond shortcake and I got the Canadian Whiskey Cake. Our service was very pleasant and we had a great time. I ended up giving DH part of my steak and he agreed he wanted to order the strip next time we eat here. This meal was the fullest I had felt in the trip. (Photos on my dining review)

After dinner we decided to go back to the BC instead of hanging out at WS, since it had been a long hot day and we were tired. We vegged in the room for a while, debating about swimming, but in the end we opted against it. Goofy went to pick up Max and they went to the Marketplace to get some Mickey ice cream bars/sandwiches for snacks. When they got back to the room, Max found the HM pin Goofy had found and purchased at the BC Marketplace. He was very excited to have something else to add to his new collection.

We all got ready for bed and Max played with his transformers for a while. I read part of my pool book and Goofy watched TV. Before long, we were all asleep and ready for Sunday.

Next Up: Epcot, A mini YOMD for Max, Tropical Depressions and dinner on the Boardwalk

Now you've only gone and posted an update and ruined my joke - I was gonna say 'What did you forget - your underwear?' :rotfl2: But it's not nearly so funny now as it would have been had I quoted you from your previous installment

Anyway, since I missed my opportunity to comment on your previous update, Boma sounds good but I still stand by my opinion that, as an incredibly fussy/picky eater, I wouldn't enjoy it. DH, I'm sure, would so maybe I will 'take one for the team' (as I believe the expression goes) on a future trip. You can't imagine how funny 'take one for the team' sounds said in my Mary Poppins-like British accent :lmao:

:sad2:

Doh!!! :rotfl:

did you know it is almost impossible to find a HM pin AT the MK?

Like finding a Beach Club pin at the Beach Club ;) Did you ever get the BC pin?

Enjoyed your latest installment :thumbsup2 Post more soon please :)

Can't believe you forgot your tickets, so easily done though! It's great that DS loves the kids club so you got a date night :thumbsup2

I started reading your dining report (which is excellent) and it led me to your TR. I am really enjoying hearing about your trip and getting some great ideas along the way. What a nice family you have!:) I am looking forward to the rest!:goodvibes

Joh - your joke made Dh and I laugh out loud, believe it or not. Stay tuned....

And yes, we did eventually find the elusive BC pin :thumbsup2

Can you believe it??

And a little more about the tickets - we all have Annual Passes, which have different characters on them. When we get to the parks, I pull them out and call out the character for the person whose name is on the pass. Dh has Mickey. Since he's loved Mickey since he was a kid, this is great. I have the dwarves - Grumpy to be exact. Since I am only about 5'3", DH finds this hilarious. But our favorite?

Max has Tinkerbell...! :lmao:

So when we get to the parks, I pull out the ticket and say, "Mickey?" hand it it DH. "Dwarves?" keep that one. And "Tinkerbell?" and look around for Max. He would grumble "I am NOT Tinkerbell", but DH and I continued to find it hilarious in our immature way. If Tinkerbell were a boy character instead of a pixie/fairy/pseudo princess, Max would be Tinkerbell. Funny, sassy, and little tiny bit self centered - that's my angel.

I started reading your dining report (which is excellent) and it led me to your TR. I am really enjoying hearing about your trip and getting some great ideas along the way. What a nice family you have!:) I am looking forward to the rest!:goodvibes

Thank you and welcome! I am head over heels in love with my tiny family and love spending time with them. I'm so glad you're reading. I truly want a report that Max and Goofy and I can read to remember our vacations and I love that other people who enjoy WDW as much as we do like to read along. :goodvibes

Sunday, May 6 - Epcot Day!

This day was Epcot day. We got up and had doughnuts in the room – the breakfast of champions! One more day of not even looking at the English Muffins and grape jelly we had purchased for breakfasts. Even better, Max ate a Mickey ice cream bar Goofy had bought him the night before when he picked him up from the Sandcastle Club. Before the trip, he had talked about eating ice cream for breakfast on vacation, and finally he did!

Max also had to take in a little bit of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the iPod while waiting for us to get ready.

We got ready while enjoying the updates on the morning news and Weather Channel about the Not Yet A Tropical Depression spinning off the coast of Florida.

Walking over to Epcot, we entered through the International gateway and made a beeline to The Land. The first thing we needed to do was get on Soarin’ - my absolute favorite ride at WDW. We made it through quickly and were soon hang gliding over California in the third row. We've been on all three rows, and I know #1 is the best but it makes me queasy so I was more than happy to stay on #3.

After Soarin', we decided to ride Living with the Land. The line was short and Max is loving science so we knew he'd enjoy this. As we were walking up to it, a CM approached Max and said "I see you're collecting pins?"

He proudly showed her the pins he had and told her how special they were. She then pulled a pin on a card out of her pocket and handed it to him, saying "This is a very special pin too - only Cast Members get this one. You can't buy it." The pin was a blue Tinkerbell YOMD dreams pin. Have you all heard of this? They come two on perforated cards and one says "one for you" and the other says "one to give". This was the top "one for you" pin.

Max and Goofy and I were just thrilled! I hadn't told Max much about the YOMD because you never know if anything would happen. And yes, we'd love to win the DVC contract or a free cruise (which we didn't, btw ;) ) but this gesture on her part was so incredibly sweet and just made his day!

We rode LwtLand and Max was intrigued. He absolutely loved the greenhouse and was fascinated by the "earning my ears" pumpkins and squashes that were growing into Mickey shapes. We really enjoyed this trip to The Land.

Afterwards, we headed over to The Seas with Nemo and Friends. We rode the new Nemo ride in our clamshells (very cute!) and had enough time for Turtle Talk. Max wanted to ask Crush if he ate seaweed pizza (???) but didn't get the chance. Nonetheless, we had a blast. Before going into the room with Crush, they had video games to play and rays and jellies to watch.

We left The Seas and headed over towards Test Track. On the way, we stopped so Max could do a little pin shopping at the kiosk area near the fountain. Nothing special jumped out so the boys went on Mission Space and Test Track while I shopped at Mouse Gears. Max called me between rides and was beyond excited that he finally rode Mission Space (green) and he was a COMMANDER!!!!

I bought a slushie and sat back and waited while they rode TT and then met up with them to decide what the rest of the day would look like. It was warm out so we decided to get some lunch and then swim.

We stopped in the UK at Yorkshire County Fish Shop and had some fish and chips. There were no tables available, so we sat down on a bench along the water.

Following lunch, we went back to the room and got ready to swim. We had reservations at Spoodles and not enough time to really veg out at Stormalong Bay, so we went down to the Villas pool. We had a great time swimming and when it began to sprinkle, I went up to the room to shower.

(If you look carefully, you can see Goofy and Max in the pool on the right side with an orange noodle)

Once I was out of the shower and took a few photos, it began to rain a bit harder. I looked off the balcony and saw the boys were no longer in the pool so I waited for them to come up. Within minutes, they were back in the room and the rain began to pummel down. Goofy and I went out on the balcony while Max took a bubble bath and watched as the storm came in fiercer and fiercer - each of these photos was taken in a 15 minute period around 4:30 in the afternoon:

We talked about skipping our reservations and just grabbing something at Beaches and Cream or Marketplace, but then the storm was over and things calmed down considerably. We walked down to the marina to get a boat over to the Boardwalk:

The boat came shortly and we crosses Crescent Lake to dinner. We were seated almost right away and had a great experience. Our dinner was very good and we had a great server. We ate way too much and enjoyed almost all of it.

After dinner we wandered along the Boardwalk for a while, taking in the entertainment and shops. We stopped at Seashore Sweets and Max got one of those Goofy Candy powder tubes. As you can see, it was sour:

I love this photo!!!!

We hung out on the Boardwalk for a while before heading back to the room for bed. It had been a great day.

Up next: A YOMD surprise at DAK, Max tackles Expedition Everest, and dinner at 'Ohana!

Before the trip, he had talked about eating ice cream for breakfast on vacation, and finally he did!

That is all my DS is talking about - how he is gonna have ice-cream and cake for breakfast because you can at Disney World ::yes::

As you can see, it was sour:

I love this photo!!!!

Me too - hilarious!

What a great day at Epcot - the good thing about the Boardwalk area resorts is how convenient it is to just stroll on down to Epcot - that's what we loved about BWV back in February.

Those photos taken during the storm were amazing - I can't believe how dark it got.

And Max is still being lucky with those pins - how lovely that the CM gave him the tink pin. Although with his tink ticket, I hope he doesn't get a complex :rotfl: Looking forward to more :)
