Hubby and I are going the beginning of May next year for our 20th...
If money wasn't a huge issue (within reason, can't do $1,000 a night lol) where would you stay and why?
We are looking for something romantic, nice view, and a pet peeve of mine is I am hoping for a King bed. 2 Queens with two people drives me nuts...lol...We have been to Disney many times but not just the two of us! Thanks for any and all help!

To ensure a king bed, you can do a moderate where that is a booking category. How about French Qtr? Very compact- get a river view room! Nice view and nice walking trails. How about a carriage ride for the two of you? Splurge on a dinner- V&A's maybe? or Narcoossees?

I would go with YC water view and ask for a room facing Epcot. The refurbished rooms are absolutely beautiful and we had the most amazing view of Illuminations. My second choice would be GF.

You can request a King bed but I don't think they have many.

Just back from our 20th anniversary trip. We stayed at BWV in a BW View studio which worked out great. The queen bed was more than adequate without the 3 dogs we sleep with at home. Our special dinner was at Shula's.

I considered V&A but honestly the menu didn't thrill me, we aren't very "fancy" eaters. Lots of people love CG but the menu didn't thrill me. My original plan was the Poly with dinner at Citrico's but when the BWV with a BW view showed up I jumped on it. We very much enjoyed people watching from the balcony.

My recommendation is to review the menus for the signature restaurants then pick a hotel with great transportation to the restaurant.

Congratulations on 20 "ears"

Poly villa room. They have king beds and a sleeper sofa. I think that's the case for all of them. I'd also love to stay at Wilderness Lodge. I've visited but never stayed there. Seems more romantic than the GF for me. But check the villas at whichever resort you choose.

Does it have to be onsite? I think I'd book a king at Waldorf Astoria. They have fireworks views, etc., and it certainly looks like a very nice hotel. We haven't stayed there, but we want to soon! I suppose the Four Seasons is also a choice, but I haven't been there either.

Or, maybe a king at Swan, because I love the Epcot area and I just love the Swan. It felt truly deluxe (but not at Disney prices) and so... adult? Felt like I was relaxing away from Disney when I was at the pool or in my room, but I was still only a short walk from World Showcase. Just with some separation in terms of decor and atmosphere :)

But, in my case, things like using magicbands to open my room or charging to magicband don't really matter to me.

happy almost anniversary, 20 years is a long time!

Two years ago, we did Poly TPV for our 20th. If I was booking again, I'd still do Poly TPV but make it club level. I don't know about the availability of King beds there, however.

DVC Studio rooms are Queen beds and a sleeper sofa. 1 BR and larger have King beds in the Master Bedroom
I agree with a PP, the only way to guarantee a King bed is in the Moderate that has it a booking category, not a request. Most rooms at all Disney Hotels are designed for bigger groups than just couples and are 2 Queens

We stayed at a deluxe resort with a water view for ours. This year we are celebrating our 25th and stopping at Beach Club garden view and we have our anniversary day planned with a brunch at the Cali Grill and dinner at Yachtsmans Steak House with some park hopping and shopping in between. In the past we have stayed at POFQ which is a romantic resort with carriage rides available as well as the updated rooms some of which have king size beds that also can be selected. The dining options are decent and nothing is very far from anything else within the resort itself. You can also share resort features with Riverside too like the boats and the pools and food courts. It’s a nice walk up if you fancy a stroll early on a morning or later say 07:30pm onwards and that path is well lit and signposted too. There’s also an entertainer with fun activities to enjoy up at the Riverside location. His schedule is usually posted up within the resort so you can catch a show. Honestly we wouldn’t object to staying there again it’s so pretty and compact yet friendly.

You could do a DVC one-bedroom. That will guarantee you the king bed. Some of them aren't outrageously expensive. When we stayed in the Boardwalk villas we were also able to get a discounted one-bedroom so it wasn't too expensive. I think the deluxes are more romantic than the moderates, just my opinion. And I'm like you I only want a king and so far have never been given it without booking the one-bedroom.

Congratulations on your upcoming 20th!

I will put my vote in for one of the Epcot resorts. I feel that for adults the location can't be beat. Being able to wander over to Epcot in the evenings is wonderful. And the Crescent Lake area offers plenty of things to do as well.

DW and I love the BWI and have stayed in a standard view room many times and always got nice, quiet views. You will have to request a king bed. I am smiling as I write this as DW and I started out requesting a king but have now shifted to 2 queens. Of course we are now at 45 years and counting. We always got our request though a couple of times we did have to wait a few extra hours for the room.

Once we splurged through a bounce back offer for a one bedroom villa at the BWV and that had a king bed. The one bedroom villa was very nice with plenty of room and amenities for a quiet evening in.
Wishing you a pixiedust: visit!

Thank you all so much!!! So helpful! I will look into the 1 bedroom Villas as stated! Please keep the ideas coming!

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary at BWI. We had a room facing Epcot and I loved the view. We have since stayed in a water view room there and that is amazing! It has been a dream of mine to stay in one of the Garden Suites at BWI but it's never been in the cards. They look completely charming and romantic (not sure if they are king beds).

If you're open to staying Club Level, take a look at most any deluxe resort that appeals to you because staying CL can be a romantic and relaxing experience with some great views from either your room and/or the CL lounge. There is a specific CL thread where you could get some great ideas/info/pictures.

I'm not sure I'm qualified to give my actual resort vote because we're still going to Disney with our 2 kids so my mind is geared towards our favorite family resorts. But in trying to zone out and think where I'd like to go with just my DH, I'd be inclined to look at either YC CL or GF RPC.

It's really hard to beat the beauty and elegance of GF, and staying in the main building is the icing on the cake. Watching the action down below while sitting in the lounge with a glass of wine would be something I'd enjoy with DH. Edit to add: it's certainly not cheap to stay at RPC, but maybe there will be a good discount for your week! It's worth checking :).

YC CL is actually the only CL we haven't tried yet, but we've stayed at YC in a regular room and I remember thinking that I'd love to return there someday when the kids were older (they were 2 or 3 years old at the time). Now the lounge and rooms have been recently refurbished, and I always like staying at a resort when it feels "new." The Epcot resort area/boardwalk is gorgeous and romantic, in my opinion.

I can't really touch on the king bed request except that I'm pretty sure GF RPC has king rooms, and I'd suspect YC CL must?

Not to put a damper on this thread but she did say no $1,000 a night rooms and the GF RPC rooms are often over the $1,000 a night price. I love the Grand but those prices are just insane! The BWI Innkeepers club has been our favorite for years with a little more adult vibe to it and a whole lot cheaper rooms than the GF.

That’s why I mentioned POFQ. There are many other options too if you want a DVC property through buying points with someone too. There are a few folks here who do that and I’m sure if you pick the right weeks and resorts/rooms combo you could probably get them for a fair bit less than some of the other rooms on property that way. Have fun exploring options.

You are right - I should've been more thorough in my reply. I will edit my post. Thanks!

If you go in early May, you may luck out on a discount for GF. We stayed here for our 15th anniversary in the main building and they upgraded us to a TPV for our special occasion! With a discount and going in August, it was $870 per night, but it was amazing! We stayed here for our honeymoon, so it's special to us. We only stayed two nights and rented a cabana for a day.

Our second choice would be YC, but there is no guarantee for a king bed.
