Just wondering if anyone had some ideas or could tell me what you've done to celebrate a child's birthday in WDW. Our 2 kids have been many times but we've never celebrated an occasion there.

The best part is - we have one daughter who will be turning 9 during our trip then a few days later, another who will turn 6. Right now, I have reserved hoop-dee-doo (their favorite) for the first birthday and CRT breakfast for the second. (Not set on Breakfast at CRT - just want something princess-y).

I plan on picking up birthday buttons - but I wondered if anyone had any really fun ideas that we might look into. There seems to be so many options - just looking for opinions/experiences. Thank you very much for any help.

Get one of those AWESOME birthday hats they sell in all the Parks in all the apparel stores. It appears to be a LARGE birthday cake with candles on it and it plays Happy Birthday. Last year we bought it for our son as he celebrated his bday while we were in Disney and EVERYONE sees that hat and all the Disney CM's make it very special for the birthday person. The hat is quite large and is about $30.00 but a def if you are having a bday in Disney. He will be noticed ALL DAY LONG and given special treats all day long. :wave2:

We'll be dealing with the same thing during our trip in June. Two birthdays a week apart...one turning 9, the other 7. Son is turning 7 first. We made ADRs for his favorite character breakfast, Donald's Bfastsaurus, and a Fantasmic Package at Brown Derby. For DD, originally it was to be a princess bfast (PSB in Norway) and she chose dinner at Le Cellier! I've since changed it to the Princess Tea Party. We plan on getting the birthday buttons for them as well.

The whole trip is for them this time. We always wanted to do a "birthday" trip but put it off because it was in June...a time we definitely would prefer not to go. There are so many things available to make it "special", it's hard to choose! I did make an appt. for DD at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and booked a Pirate Cruise for both.

I like the hat idea momrek06 wrote about. You can bet I'll be watching this thread closely!

I'm watching this thread closely too! Mine and DH's b'day's are during our trip & DD5's b'day is 6 days after we come home! We, of course, are celebrating her birthday while in WDW instead of ours. She is so excited and we are looking for ideas.

Thank you very much for your replies...I was thinking about looking into the pirate cruise as well. It looks like a lot of fun. Not sure if we should do this or the family magic tour instead. Since my kids have been before (we're ap holders who like to go about once a year), it would be fun for them to do some extras. I like the birthday hat idea a lot - but, it will be during the summer, so it might be too hot. I will definitely check them out though, thanks!

When I called to make hotel res./ADR'sm the CM suggested that I order a birthday cake for hoop-dee-doo and CRT. (She gave me separate bakery numbers). This could turn out to be really fun!

get their hair pixie dusted at the barber shop. lol i did on my 31st birthday got lots of attention also be aware you might get many surprises by cast members when they see the birthday button. it just depends if the cm's are up to pixie dust mood lol

Good point about the hat in summer. Another thought I had but didn't pursue is booking a Wishes cruise and celebrating on the boat. A few years ago when we did a wishes cruise, we saw a boat decorated for a birthday and it looked really neat. Given the expense, I don't know if my kids would appreciate it. They enjoy being in a restaurant and getting sung to!

Also saw some great pics of cakes on here, but I don't know if I am going to order cakes either. My kids were actually the ones to choose the Brown Derby and Le Cellier, so I think sticking a candle in one of their desserts will be more fun to them than a bday cake. With 2 bdays so close together, we always seem to have an overabundance of bday cake during their bdays....used to be a cake on each of their days, then another for their combined birthday party! With anything like that, I plan to check and double check on it as we have had snafus happen with special anniversaries in the past.

I like the pixie dusted idea, too!

Look into ordering the Mickey cake. They'll bring it right to your restaurant and eventhough I thought is was a little expensive when I ordered it. It was really cool and my son loved it.
Also go to guest relations at each park and get your birthday pin. CM's will constantly wish your kids happy birthday. They also let us ride different rides again as a birthday gift. Also for your birthday dinner make sure the restaurant knows and tell the hotel if your on property because my son got balloons and a card signed by mickey minnie goofy donald and pluto. Someone started a post a while ago with a ton of things regarding spending a birthday at disney but I think the buttons are the way to go. Also with the buttons I think three of the four parks have different buttons and don't just wear them on the actual birthday wear it all week it will just make it that much more special for them.
PS One Magical Moment during my son's birthday trip was when a violinist at in Mexico played Happy Birthday to my son because he saw the buttons on his shirt it was touching or was it the margirittas.

I have 2 with birthday's a week apart as well. DS will turn 6 on our trip, and dd will turn 8 2 days after we get home. So we will be celebrating both on the trip. I have Chef Mickey's booked for DS and CRT lunch for DD. I mentioned their birthdays when making the ADR's. We've been there in the past for their birthdays and got them both the pin. If you've got shy kids, I'm not sure I'd have them wear the pin. DD didn't like all the attention a few years ago.

There is couple pirate crusies. One at the Grand Flordiain, Yacht Club, Carribbean Resort, and Port Orleans. They have to between 4 and 10 and potty tained. They go out on a pirates boat and go to find hidden treausre. They are feed them lunch, PB&J, cookies, juice. The cruise about 2 hours long. they all get a pirates scrafe wear and a eye patch.
