Has anyone seen this parade yet ?

Is it a good length?

What are the characters shown ?

I can't believe they ended Parade of Dreams and replaced it with such a circus event. While I haven't seen the new Celebrate street party in person, I saw it on youtube over the weekend. Aside from MM, Goofy and Donald duck, all I saw where CMs banging on drum, jumping around, and dancing to music like Ricky Martin! Throughout the show, I kept thinking how can the kids be enjoying something like this? Looks like they are trying to create a high school musical party in the park.

When I go to DLR, I want my kids to see their favorite charaters along with great music. Parade of Dreams was exactly that with princesses, cartoon favorites, and that great song. I hope they kill off this street party thing and bring back something that has some "Disney Magic".

I saw parts of it when we went 2 weeks ago. The music was cute. There were a ton of characters, except no princesses for some reason.

It's a nice change, but really nothing compared to POD.

yuck !! they took the most beloved parade and put in a loud, obnoxious, small, thing they call a parade.. I saw it on youtube, blech)))))))))))

I watched bits and peices while we were there at the end of March, and was never inspired enough to stay and watch. First off, they made everyone stand - no sitting - which was a big turn off for me. One of the big things I loved was to sit and relax while watching POD. I just didn't "get" the whole thing.

It seemed very 'Tweenish' in it's approach. It's a little similar (music and dance styles) to the HSM3 parade thing over in DCA except is has Disney characters instead. Not my thing at all. We skipped it every time and instead rode IASW with almost no line since people were avoiding it (Probably thinking it's closed during the parade but it isn't :) ).

I've seen it twice, and both times I really enjoyed it. They mix in Disney tunes with pop music, great dancers, fun choreography, and Disney characters throughout the show.

The big difference to me, is that it is similar to the HSM Parade in DCA, where there are three street shows rather than a parade. Guests can sit in three different sections along the route (shown on the park map), and have fun with the music.

Since the theme at Disney is celebrate this year, I thought the parade/show was a great venue to get excitement up in the crowd. I took pictures & sent them in for the DIS, but might post them on the thread later. I saw children AND adults twisting with the characters and dancing in the conga line. Everyone around me was laughing, smiling, and having fun, especially the children.

I wouldn't rate this parade based on what you might see on youtube, where you cannot really see, hear, or feel the crowd interaction, but go see it in person. It's a lot of fun, and includes popular characters, as well as characters rarely seen (Clarabelle the Cow, etc).

Go with a positive attitude to have fun, and I bet you'll really like this show.

It's horrible if you watch it on youtube. We watched it in person last week and loved it!! Tons of characters, very exciting. They pulled our kids out into the street to dance with them. Loved it!!

While it is not my favorite "parade" , it is cute and fun. The CM's that are in it WORK THEIR BUTTS OFF!! By the end of the show, they are all dripping with sweat, but never look like they are giving less than 100% . There are lots of characters represented, even Clarabelle :lovestruc. I have seen Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pooh, Chip , Dale, Mary Poppins, Bert, Donald, and I am sure there are more, but thats all I can remember. The way I felt was that although the content of the "parade" is sub par to the standards that Disneyland itself has set for such a thing, the CM's/ entertainers really bring out their own Disney magic and work really hard to make it GREAT! They really convey the magic.
If you get a chance to see it, give it a shot.

I'm not a Disney parade connoisseur, but I wasn't particularly impressed. I would consider it a show rather than a parade. It didn't hold my kids' attention.

We'll see when I go then. Thank you everyone for your opinions on the "party." I guess its less like a parade. I won't go and watch with a lot of expectations and just enjoy it for what it is. I'm also not going to watch on YT because I want to see it fresh ;)

I agree! Blaaah, I didn't like it.:headache:

Boring, boring, boring.....just did not get it at all. We tried to like it, but it just didn't hold our attention. I hope it doesn't last long, one less thing for us to do. I guess we are just spoiled from a REAL parade......RIP POD..........popcorn::

I dont wanna be negative and not to put down others, but this is my own personal opinion and I know others will totally disagree with me but here it is...

I have only seen it on Youtube as well, and I was embarassed to watch it in privacy. Some people are going to say "Hey your going to want to see it live instead of on YouTube as its not the same". Sure I can see your point, but I have a good idea as to what its about and its not even remotely appealing to me. As good of an effort that the CM's give and which I totally thank them for, the parade looks cheesier then a corndog. Personally from all Disney websites I have been on including the Dis, the reviews have all been "My kids have so much fun", "The kids really got into it", "Great Interaction" etc. which is totally awesome as I am all for kids having a great time. I am sure my son would love it in a few years when he is a few years old. But I can only count a select few adults who have actually said they like it. But hey if you like it, then totally love it. By all means. This is all about personal taste and I am not knocking your style. I am happy you have something to look forward to.

On the other hand, there are way too many bad reviews from park guests on the new Celebrate party that Disney is apparently being forced to bring back the POD for one showing on days where there are 2 parades. First parade POD, and the other Celebrate (Or Vice Versa). This was mentioned on a recent head office Disney update article.

I absolutely LOVE Celebrate! I love the music. I love the dancing. I love the character interaction. I think it's a great addition to the parks. As an AP, I usually visit DL once a month. Since Celebrate! opened, I've gone 4 out of the past 5 weekends, mostly because of the Street Party. :goodvibes

That being said, I completely recognize that it's not a traditional parade by any means, and many people expect a traditional parade at Disneyland. I mean, of all the Disney parks in the world, you would think that the original, flagship park would have a traditional parade. Believe me, I also enjoyed Parade of Dreams and was sad to see that it was stopped prematurely. I'm hoping that the rumors are true that POD will be brought back for the summer to run in conjunction with Celebrate. That would be a dream scenario!

Here are a few photos from all those trips to see Celebrate!

Like I said, I really, really love Celebrate! and can't wait to go see it again. :thumbsup2

We just returned and tried to watch the 'street party' and have my kids stay interested....well it didn't work.

It was more about the tweenish singers and dancers and less about Disney.

They looooooved the previous "parades" and they are boys ages 11, 8, and 3. Go figure!

I totally thought it belonged more at DCA (with a drink in hand:)) than it did at Disneyland. Maybe it's about crowds over the summer. It definitely impacted the park much less than a 'parade'. Maybe that's because no one was interested.

I've been to DL twice in May and I have to say that I wasn't too interested in the street party. Partially because we were usually on our way out to the hotel room by that time and also because we were in spots where the traffic was moving and couldn't stay and watch.

One thing that did bother me about it was how the CMs come up to everyone before it starts and informs them that they cannot sit down as it is a standing parade. I don't know about you, but usually when I watch a parade my feet are killing me and I need a break. I totally understand it is done to encourage dancing, but I think that people should have the option of sitting. Its a bit more courteous.

Though, I still want to see it. Mostly because I've been in 4 musicals and was in choir all my years of high school and just love seeing people sing and perform. So hopefully I'll check it out from beginning to end by the end of this year! Thanks everyone for the input though :)

Our kids are 5 and 7 and pretty much they just didn't "Get it" --the music was too old for them. We were trying to get to It's A Small World at the time, and I never figured *that* ride would be a musical relief, but most of the songs in the street party I could do without.

Kids *really* enjoyed the Pixar Parade in DCA, and hopefully we'll be able to catch both the Starlight parade, then hoof over to DL for the new fantasmic on Friday. (It sounds like they're expecting a HUGE crowd, so I'm a little worried)

Spass

It's pretty much dreck! DH and I didn't even watch the whole thing and we are both very easliy entertained. So, for us, it a great time to go on rides while the lines are short. LOL!

It's not very "Disney" and it looks cheap, and like the 80s spewed all over Main Street. It's "one note"....loud! No emotion or connection. Just loud with dancing. Even the much maligned and doomed "Light Magic" was leaps and bounds better than this budget fiasco.

OK, all that being said. Not everyone feels that way, and I can see why kidds might like it because they can participate.

It's definitely a to each his own event. LOL!
