Celebrate a baby turning 1?

What can I do? The characters will probably scare him. I don't want to make the trip about my ds, because other ds (4.5) may think that is the reason we are there. Don't want to ignore the birthday, it is his 1st! Suggestions???

Get the birthday button for the big day--your child will get lots of extra attention.

Do a 'First Haircut' if he has enough hair--it's fun!

Don't assume the characters will scare him--lots of little ones love them.

If you do a sit-down meal on the big day be sure to mention it.

Where do I obtain this "birthday Button'?

Town hall to the left hand side of the square as you enter MK - looking towards the castle. We celebrated my DS's 1st birthday the same way that has been suggested - we got the button, tons of CMs said hi to him and Happy Birthday and the best was on the safari when the CM kept singing and pointing animals out to him personally. Then at each character meal they made special notes to him because of the button. We got him a hair cut - truly his first and this was so wonderful that the magic of it can't be overblown. I would highly recommend a character meal with the button on - it is special even for a one year old. The CMs will take the time to let the child adjust to them if need be too.

My son was 1 also we made the last ps at the Castel early in the day we stoped at the potem to ask for a window seat. This was the best we had great seat to see the fireworks out the window.The CM but confette on are table and sng to him he loved it. Are daughter was 6 and was loving the way he was smilling. Have a Blast

My DS will be turning 1, 10 days after we leave. We have a PS at CM the day before departure. Will it be inappropriate to celebrate his birthday early just because we're in Disney? I just think it would be so cool to celebrate a birthday there.

This past August we went over our 2 year old twins third Birthday. And we did a fireworks cruise, we had a large group 12 people. The cruise itself is the best money I have ever spent at Disney. We have done the basic cruise 3 times, Its 125 dollars and can be obtained by calling, The WDW-PLAY number(407) You are far enough away from the fireworks that the big booms do not bother the little ones. as well you will get front row seats for the Electrical water parade. On our last cruise I splurged and added on the Birthday package. Originally we had planned on getting a cake and bringing it on, But the time got away from us and I got lazy and had them do it. It was an extra 125 dollars.( I think) For that we got a ballon and streamer decorated boat. A fabulous cake, paper goods, and a cooler FULL of sodas and bottled water. It was great!!!!! We moored in front of Cinderellas castle and set up the cake. There are however no candles allowed on the boat. ( no fire) I had brought lightsticks for all the kids so we were fine, We used them as candles. It was alot of fun, Singing Happy Birthday in front of the Castle with the fireworks going off and the music in the background. I can not say enough about it it was so great. The video is priceless and all of us had just the best time!

We took DS for his 1st birthday and he loved the characters. We didnt know about the birthday buttons at the time. We are going again in Jan for his 3rd birthday and will definately do that this time. We are also going to have dinner at Chef Mickeys which has a special birthday celebration including birthday cupcakes for all the birthday boys and girls.

I would plan some character meals and just take your ques from your DS.
