We don't ask if someone has been vaccinated or not. We know the children haven't taken the jab and they aren't excluded.

Agreed. I don’t quite get the peer pressure thing to vaccinate. If you (general you) are fully vaccinated and thus protected from covid, why are you concerned with whether or not I choose to vaccinate? If I have covid, you should be protected.

I think of what's happened in the last year. It's been a whirlwind. We now have more effective treatments. Not only have we had a vaccine for several months we are reaching the point where ANYONE over the age of 16 can be vaccinated. Wow! These are huge positives. It makes me sad to see so many still negative regarding the virus and our future. JMO

I think we are talking about groups of adults wanting to do things together and peer pressure. Not anything involving kids. Like, I don't want to hang out in a group indoors at a bar or casino or vacation house or something with a bunch of unvaccinated people, sorry. In that situation, you could very well still infect me. I'd rather we all be vaccinated so we can hang out maskless and fully enjoy ourselves with a MUCH smaller likelihood of ANYONE getting infected.

I don't really like peer pressure or social pressure as a tactic, that's stayed the same throughout all of this including masks. I tend to think with the vaccination aspect it's put everyone in this weird spot because with a vaccine you can still contract COVID so you're protected only to a point.

It does harken back to the mask memes 2 vaccinated people have a smaller likelihood of contracting it and presently speaking spreading it (this part is still being investigated). But I wouldn't not be around someone who isn't vaccinated either by choice or circumstance though and I wouldn't purposefully exclude someone, chances are if they are vocal about not wanting to get a vaccination their reasons and rantings are going to be more the reason to not want to interact as much than the fact that they aren't vaccinated.

It's very unlikely that everyone will be vaccinated. Will it be required to enter public facilities? Once I would have said never but odd things are happening. So who knows.

I'm more of a practical person in these respects. You can't take away the positives, and I've had my fair share of discussion about being positive (like national guard being used for one) and you can't take away the negatives. You need to balance both out and it's this so-called middle ground and balancing out that tends to be ignored or not balanced in favor of being extremely positive to the point of misleading/misrepresentation/misguiding or being extremely negative to the point of being misleading/misrepresentation/misguiding.




Without enough people vaccinated any place stands to be in a riskier spot than with a higher vaccination amount. That's practical in nature. We can discuss all day long about restrictions, mandates or whatever but the risk level is just higher with lower vaccination rates. Notice I said risk level because I don't want my comment to be construed to mean you're going to have a bunch of people infected without high vaccination or the virus will just die out naturally so vaccination rate doesn't mean as much.

Because we need herd immunity. Otherwise those of us who did get it aren’t fully protected. And the vaccine isn’t 100%.

If I’m going to hang out indoors and maskless with friends in the upcoming months, they’ll have to be vaccinated. It’s a personal choice with the risk level I’m willing to take.

It's not a tactic I find palatable but me not liking it doesn't mean I'm not understanding why people are engaging it it. I very much get it.

I think for my age group (early 30s but even late 20s) mostly what may push people to get it is simply seeing on FB that people are getting it. I don't really have people engaging in social pressure on there as in tsking people who aren't getting it but when you see all your friends or people you know getting something most people naturally feel left out. I think that's more apt to work on someone who is on the fence instead of someone who is just against getting a vaccine period though.

The primary concern is herd immunity and mutations. If we fail to achieve herd immunity the chances increase that the petri dish of mutations that will occur could get away from us. That would be bad. But for that, I’d agree with you, and take some comfort in the fact that at least we’d be improving the gene pool by weeding out a bit from the shallow end.

Covid-19 Update 3/25/21:

OC now has 1.2 million people who are vaccinated with at least their first dose. We are the 3rd County in the state to get this far for our population.

As of today, the state announced that when a person in the applicable tiers gets vaccinated, anyone 16+ in their family may get vaccinated too.

Beginning April 1st, all ages 50+ are eligible to get vaccinated. Beginning April 15th, all ages 16+ are eligible to get vaccinated.
