CCV or BWV

We are booked for a 2BDR 7-night at CCV (Home Resort), but I'm considering waitlisting at BWV. I'm torn because I've stayed at both locations and loved both with my children (11 & 13). The difference with this trip is my SO and her two children (11 & 13) will be joining all of us for their first Disney Trip, and I'm trying to make it great for them! I know the pros and cons when it comes to transportation, and BWV has a better water slide.

We are going to spend at least two days as resort days. I also know that waitlisting doesn't necessarily mean we'll get the room, either :)

Just looking for thoughts from everyone, since I'm torn.

I think I'd base it on what parks you want to focus on and time of year. We also have CCV as home resort. Staying at BWV this coming summer. Looking forward to see the refurbished rooms. We love that location as we love Epcot and walking over there is a huge plus for us.

It will be in early August.... Hot, Humid, Thunderstormy, and Busy. We've done everything for me and my kids, so for these guys, it's a new experience. I don't know what parks, in all honesty.

Again, assuming we get the waitlist approval.

My niece and I are taking my great niece for her 2nd Disney trip. Hands down she requested BWV again. She will be 11 almost 12 at the time of the trip. She loves the pool and slide. The entertainment at night was a big plus to her. You also have plenty of stores on both sides of the lake to check out if they love to shop lol. The pool side activities are fun. There is an ice cream shop right on the boardwalk. If it’s raining during your resort days you can visit community hall.
If your waitlist doesn’t come through Wilderness lodge is beautiful and the pools are nice. In the evening you could hop the boat over to the contemporary or magic kingdom and use the monorail to explore the other resorts if that’s something that interests your 11 & 13 year olds. Or you could hop on a boat over to fort wilderness in the evening and watch a movie under the stars and roast marshmallows with chip & dale.

I would say BWV because your close to 2 parks and lots of places to eat.

CCV is home for me, but BWV is probably my favorite to switch to at 7 months. I really liked the functionality of the second bedroom/bathroom when we stayed in a CCV 2 BR last January, but we were six adults and appreciated all being able to sleep in real beds. Post-refurb, this is less of an issue with the Murphy beds being added to BWV (and with your party containing kids, who may not really care).

I think I'd waitlist BWV. There's something special about it. I have a friend who joined us last minute on a trip a few years ago. We were in a BWV 1 BR the final evening, and a party of 4, so he just booked a night at the Dolphin to finish up. He fell in love with the resort just coming to visit our room & realizing how phenomenal the location was. Booked a confirmed reservation from www.dvcshop.com to take his family last summer, and before that even happened he had purchased a resale contract :P They loved it. Wilderness Lodge is a special place, but I think Boardwalk would make for a magical first visit.

One possible consideration is the rooms. BWV is currently undergoing a major refurb of its rooms which should be done well before August and thus you will get a like "new" room, while CCV, opened in 2017, has not yet had any refurb. Those BWV rooms will have the new Murphy beds that pull down from the wall over the couch in the living room and second bedroom, and, at other resorts where those have already been installed, many have reported that the beds are better than those that pull-out from a couch. CCV will still have only the beds that pull-out from a couch.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I ended up waitlisting at BWV, figured why not. I figured with the 4 kids, the waterslide was enough :D. I really enjoyed BWV the last time I stayed there, but that was "post" covid, reduced capacity, and nothing was going on due to the partial shutdowns. The older kids are old enough to go on their own, within reason, so they may like the boardwalk activities.

I'm not sure if this is trivial but we are trading a 2BDR dedicated for a 2BDR Lockoff if our waitlist is fulfilled.

All 2BRs at BWV are lock-offs. Dedicated 2BRs have one front door, the second bedroom has two beds and no couch, and lacks the mini-kitchen and front entry area of a studio which generally leads to more closet space than in a studio. The BWV 2BR has two front doors and the studio/second bedroom has the mini-kitchen and a couch rather than a second bed, and the Murphy bed pulls out of the wall over that couch, while the top parts of the couch collapse when doing so. The BWV second bedroom/studio also has a somewhat smaller than twin-size bed that pulls out of a cabinet that is beneath the TV (CCV does not have that even in the studios).

Right, I knew that. Just trying to understand, except for the bed and the door, am I trading off much?

You do get the extra small bed in BWV studio. Otherwise, not much different except that if you put all the kids together in that studio/second bedroom, you have the risk that they could leave the room without your knowing it

That is for you to decide. If you want a 2BR at BWV, you don't have a choice. Since it's now a Murphy bed in the studio portion at BWV, it's better than a pull out sofa, as it was before. My favorite resort at WDW is the WL, so I would go CCV, but that's just me. If you get the waitlist, then do it, it was meant to be. If not, CCV is a pretty good alternative! The kids will have a great time at either resort.
