If you don't charge more than $250 for the 4-night Wonder, exactly when are the charges applied? If on the final day, and if it's a debit card, does it post on that Thursday or charged on Thursday and taken out of your bank account on Friday? (Money is tight, but I get direct deposit placed into my account on Friday.) I'm just trying to figure out how much I can spend. Thanks

I think debit cards are treated just like credit cards. When they put the charge through, it's verified that you have the funds available. The detail might take a day or two to show up, but the funds will need to be there on Thursday. You might want to check the policy with your own bank and especially on direct deposit. Typically, the ACH will receive the information regarding your check the day before the actual paydate. Banks have up to 48 hours to retrieve the information and post it. I know that normally my pay check is in the account at 12:01am on the day it's dated for, but the bank is under no obligation to get it posted that quickly.

I would use a true "credit card" for your deposit. Only because if you need to dispute something, much easier, the money isn't gone from your account! Then when you get home, pay it off with the money on the debit card. Just a thought.

What if you don't have a credit card ?

Do you need to put a deposit down at the begining?

Thanks

Remember that DCL shore excursions are charged the first day of the cruise. This can add up VERY quickly.

I ampretty sure the answer is yes, cash and I think the minimum is either 250 or 500. We did a carnival cruise last January, and one of the guys with us didn't have a credit card, so he needed cash, didn't have that! So I had to put it on my credit card.

Thanks.

It's because of message boards like this that help keep people out of awkward situations.

Guess I'll add some extra to the budget.

Here is another tidbit-
They dont charge your account until you spend $400.00 - ie. on our 7 day, we spent a lot and mid-way thru the cruise there was a $400.00 credit - they billed $400.00 to our debit card and then the balance on the final day. So if you dont spend $400.00, the charges will not go thru until the end of your cruise.

So if I want to pay with CASH, I can hand them $250 (4-day cruise) to put into my account. And where do I do this at? Is it done at the desk checking in before I even get onboard?

We did pay some cash on our account right on the boat at Guest Services....Im not sure if you can put cash down at Check-In, but that would be very convenient :)

We establish our onboard account with a CC but we pay everything in cash. The $400 charge is correct. You can get a running total of your onboard charges at anytime during the cruise from guest services. I just went down every couple days and paid the account off in cash. It worked really well for us.

And, does the statement indicate to which cards the charges were made?

IE, myself, my husband, my mom

We just got back from the 4 night wonder and they took out our shipboard charges on the 4th day which was at sea. We also booked another on the same day and the deposit went thru immediately. This actually caused our debit card to go negative. I thought I would have enough time to go to the internet and transfer the funds.I was surprised to see they did the transactions at sea as I was under the impression they needed a land line for the auth.
So the moral is make sure you have the funds.

Not true. On our first trip we were diverted to Cozumel due to the hurricane and they took 3 different withdrawals from my cc. The first was at Cozumel ,then before we got to port and the last the day after the cruise. They were under the 400 limit. I think when they have the oppurtunity to run the cards they do.

Sorry but the memory isn't quite that fresh in my mind but I do remember that the invoice listed what the charge was for. Excursion, drink, spa, arcade, Palo etc.

You can put cash down on your account at check in in the terminal. You HAVE to put some sort of $ down...(depending on the length of your cruise I think it depend on how much you have to put down..per-stateroom not per person)....either cash, travlers checks, or CC can be use...oh and Disney Dollars can be used also. With our CC they waited until we met the $500 limit then charged that much...after that..they did daily charges through out the remainder of the cruise.

The print out that you get from guest services does show what card charged what (ie, dh, dd, dw...)...It was kind of nice to see who was spending what and where. Of course DH card had the most charges... :)

just got back also yesterday and I had 3 different transactions and all have cleared along with my deposit for our next cruise. I thought it was pretty fast.

It seemed like everytime I spent 200 dollars, they charged my CC during the cruise. When I went to apply my Disney Rewards Card on the last morning, my card had been charged a couple of times already. You can call guest services at any time and they will tell you the current amount of your shipboard charges. Hope this helps!

When are excursions charged?
When you book it, or the day you go???

I booked mine quite a while back but have not seen any charges yet? Is this right?

:confused3

HI THERE,
WE JUST DID THE 3 DAY WONDER FEB 3-6, AND THE LIMIT IS $200. I WENT THERE ON THE FIRST NIGHT TO PUT MONEY DOWN, KNOWING THAT OUR EXCURSIONS WERE PUT ON, AND THEY HAD ALREADY CHARGED OUR CC. AND YES YOU CAN PUT MONEY DOWN AS A CREDIT, BEFORE PURCHASES AND THEY'LL DEDUCT THEM FROM IT. YOU CAN ASK AT ANY TIME FOR A PRINT OUT. WHEN WE WENT TO CC, ALL EXCURSIONS WERE CANCELLED BY THE CAPTAIN, SO WE WERE CREDITED OUR MONEY BACK. IN FACT , THE MONEY WAS BACK AS A CREDIT BEFORE WE GOT BACK ON THE SHIP FROM OUR DAY AT CC. EVERY NIGHT BEFORE GOING TO BED, I'D GO TO GS TO SETTLE OUR ACCOUNT. OCCASIONALLY, I'D ADD $20 IF I THOUGHT I'D BE SPENDING SOME, EX: HAIR BRAIDING , DRINKS, TREASURE KETCH :confused3 ~!!! DH AND I WERE STILL SURPRISED TO SEE HOW QUICK THINGS ADDED UP IN A 3 DAY SPAN. :wave2:
