CC# for character meal reservations? When did this start?

I haven't been to WDW in 8 months and didn't have to do this before w/a credit card number for a reservation. How are people feeling about this? Does the system work okay? Is it only character meals? Thanks for any info!

I always cancelled my ADR's when I didn't use them, I imagine alot of people didn't. Here is the list I found of the restaurants that would charge $10.00 per person if there was a no show.


The list of restaurants is:

• 1900 Park Fare
• Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
• Artist Point
• California Grill
• Cape May Café
• Chef Mickey’s
• Cítricos
• The Crystal Palace
• Flying Fish Café
• The Garden Grill
• Hollywood & Vine
• Jiko – The Cooking Place
• Le Cellier Steakhouse
• Narcoossee’s
• ‘Ohana
• Tusker House Restaurant
• The Hollywood Brown Derby
• Yachtsman Steakhouse
• Victoria & Albert’s (cancellation policy is $25/per person)

Pre-paid dining locations will continue to charge the full amount if the reservation is not cancelled at least a day in advance. Those locations are:

• Cinderella’s Royal Table
• Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show
• Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue
• Mickey’s Backyard BBQ

This started back in October. There's been soooo many threads (heated discussions) about this. LOL! Ppl seem to like this new method cause its much easier to get an ADR now. woohoo!

Thank you LeahA for the list - wow, you are awesome! Thank you to also goofyintoronto as well! I appreciate all of the info! It's amazing how fast things change at Disney. I was just there in July & I cannot believe all of the changes since then! Thank you both again!
