Which side of the ship offers the best view from your stateroom while docked? I didn't pay any attention last time :rolleyes1

Starboard over looks the public beaches, Port looks over the dock and uninhabited side of the island. I've had verandahs on both sides while docked at CC. Both my bf and I preferred starboard.

Just a heads up -- usually the ships are backed into port at CC. But sometimes the crew will do maintenance or drills using the life boats on the port side, so that side of the ship can't be up against the dock. In those cases, captain will pull in bow first, so the staterooms on the port side will get the scenic view.

The PP's are correct for 95+% of the time. Occasionally though the ship will pull in, instead of backing in, to facilitate maintenance on the other side of the ship.

Some thoughts....
  • In general port side offers views of the city... starboard the water.
  • Some ports (eg Vancouver) are elevated, so the public walkway has a clear view into your room. Keep your curtains closed if you want privacy.
  • Privacy may be more of an issue if you are on the lower decks when docked.
  • On the Wonder, I noticed they load on the starboard side when in Vancouver. I assume the ship layout allows for less congestion at guest services during check-in.
  • I noticed in Alaska Ports, the ship alternated different sides to dock.

We loved our starboard view, here it is pulling in

Another benefit to the starboard side is the pirate night fireworks (if you aren't watching from the upper deck.)

If you do have a starboard cabin, when leaving Castaway Cay try to head over to the port side if you can. The cast members who live on the island do a lovely sendoff.
