cc companies sending checks...

We get about 2-3 offers per week from our cc's with 0% interest checks or checks with low interest.
Can I call them and ask to be taken off their mailing list for this? I am getting nervous someone will take one from my mailbox (or get it by mistake) and then use it!!
I have one cc to pay off and then they are all paid off. I am assuming that this is why I am getting these letters. I don't want to use them (these checks) for a cash advance or for anything.. I just want to stop getting them!!

Yes, call them & tell them you no longer want to receive them. It may take about 6 weeks but they will stop.

Someone posted a website here where you could go a opt out of receiving all of that type of info and my mail has decreased two fold since then. It was a godsend and I hope it is savinga few trees in the meantime.

I will see if I can find it and post it here.

Why don't you write a check to yourself, deposit it, pay off your credit card and then have no interest?

I have called and asked them to remove me several times but the checks keep coming. I just shred them but I do not want them!

I opted out & froze all 3 of my reports. Mail offers completely stopped.

I don't use credit. I'm self employed, so don't need to worry about employer checks and my insurance is good for now. I can always un-freeze if either of these are needed.

That is the one I was talking about. It is so easy to do and all those offers stopped in no time at all.

You can have them stop sending them.

BUT BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU USE THOSE.

Sure they may say 0% interest, but those count as a cash advance, so you WILL have fees involved with that.

The cc I need to pay off is already 0% interest. It will be paid off within 4 months.
I don't want to opt out of the cards we do have, I just don't want to get these checks every week.

I've done this and don't get cc offers for new cards, BUT I still get those annoying checks from my existing CC companies. I just shred them...

And these balance transfer checks specifically state on them they are not valid to make payments on any account which is part of the same bank company as the issuer.

And when you call their "customer service" line tell them that you will just toss them without shredding. If someone else should use them for anything it will be a fraudulent charge against your account and they will be liable.

Or tell them you are going to post them on the bulletian board at the grocery store.
