My family will be going to WDW in December of 2006. We have 3 "children" - my dd will be 22, my ds will be 5 and my dd will be turning 3 the week we are there. I had booked a room at POR that sleeps 5 (trundle bed). Then my older dd's friend asked if she could go along with us. We changed to two rooms at the CBR. I was so looking forward to the POR -- convince me that my family and I will have just as good a time at the CBR. We did request a preferred room in the Martinique section due to my son's severe asthma and the fact that the smoking-optional rooms are in one of the preferred buildings in Trinidad North so hopefully we will not have a huge walk to the main building, pool, etc.

You will have a great time at CBR. It is a beautiful resort. A preferred location costs extra nightly so if you are going at a busy time you are unlikely to get a room in the preferred villages with just a request.

I am not aware of any smoking optional rooms in the preferred locations.

Have stayed in both POR & CB & have had great stays in each but CBR wins heads up with us. More things for the kids to do when we were there, from the multiple pools, to the biking riding, boats and can't forget playing or laying on the beach. At the end of a tiring day, it's just heaven to lie on a hammock on the beach, feel the breeze and look up @ the stars. All things you can't do @ POR.

Enjoy.

I loved POR and was just sure I'd never want to go anywhere else until this last trip when I let dd then 5 pick where she thought she might like to stay and she picked CBR.. why not it's still in the same price range so that's where we stayed as you can tell by my signature CBR was a hit totally! the only thing I wish I could have had from POR was the boat to DTD that was very nice..ok maybe 2 the chocolate chip pancakes weren't as good at CBR. :flower:

Don't it make you feel that you have 2 vacations in one - the disney experience & the islands experience? Even convinced our friends to try it this year instead of POR. Hope they like it as much as we do.

Yes it does. Sometimes it is hard to believe you are in Disney when you are walking around CBR.

We were already thinking that maybe the POR might not be the resort for us. My ds (will be 5 when we go) has severe asthma. I have heard that the very lush landscaping and potentially long walks through it might not be idea for asthma sufferers. Also, the playgrounds looked much nicer at the CBR. We did actually PAY the extra for the preferred location.

That's the reason I loved CBR!! I felt like I was having a vacation inside my vacation! You don't just return to a hotel from the parks, you return to a vacation of beaches, boating, and hammocks!!!
