I'm getting the idea that some people think it is too large and spread out, so there is too much walking. What else?

I suggest you read through the CBR thread listed below. Many many people love this resort. I am one that doesn't think it is a lot of walking. There is so much to see while walking that the time passes quickly.

The only thing I didn't like was the outdoor cooridoors but I know that all moderates and values have the same issue. Other than that, I thought the resort was great :) I stayed in Jamaica and I know there were some people who thought it was a long walk to Old Port Royale but I didn't think so... it was maybe 5 minutes, 10 if you really took your time.

I love this resort. The only thing I do not like is, there is no monorail! Oh well, we can't always get what we want!:sunny:

I love everything about CBR as well, including the fact that there are outdoor corridors. I like the way CBR is set up. The only thing I DON't like is when I have to check-out.....:(

I don't think it is too spread out. We stayed in Barbados 15 last fall and it was about a 5 min walk to the food court. Nice walk along the lake. One thing I didn't like this last time was we were on the second floor on a corner near a stairway by the lake. It was very noisy, when kids ran down the walk it would vibrate up the walls. Plus people would drag strollers up the steps - bang, bang, bang.

2 years ago, we decided to try it out. We wound up in Jamaica. It was quite a walk to the main pool and food court. After 3 days, we had enough. We relocated to another resort. French Quarters was great.

Some people like CBR, some don't.

:jester:

I will say I did like staying @ CBR, But it can be a long walk depending on where you are located. People will disagree with this, but I think the bus service is way to slow just getting out of the CBR resort takes 15 min depending on where you are located.

Okay I'll give you some things I personally didn't like. Keep in mind we still had a great time but my heart belongs to PO. Thank goodness there are different themes to appeal to different people.

For us the resort was too spread out. We stayed in Trinidad North and still didn't find it too convenient to grab something at the food court in the am.

My son and I tried to enjoy the sunset on Parrot Cay and we were dive bombed by the birds. It was like a Hitchcock movie. It was actually quite interesting. Like being in a rainforest but way too much poop.

At the time we didn't like the setup of the food court but I hear that has since changed. The tables were too close together too.

Didn't like walking thru a gift area to get to the food court, very distracting for my daughter.

The custom house was away from the food court. Not convenient to check on our bill during our stay.

The theme pool was too crowded.

We didn't get into our room until 5:30. Our room was cleaned after 3:00 everyday. Most times we went back to the room in the afternoon for a swim and room wasn't done.

I was surprised as to how many parents let their young children in the lake. There was alot of duck poop around where the kids were.

I've decided I just don't care for the beach theme.

I did like the room. Like that they had chairs outside the room that I sat in each evening. I loved the curtain separating the room and the vanity area. I thought the CM's were great. Other than the time our room was cleaned I thought housekeeping was friendly. Loved that the bus stop was practically outside our door. We could easily get to our car which we could see from our window. Maintenance jumped our car for us twice when the battery died and they were great about it.

Hard to believe by reading this but I did enjoy our stay. I'm glad I experienced the resort but I do prefer others. Just playing devil's advocate since you asked for some things people didn't like. :wave2:

We stayed at CBR last Aug, I was not happy with the food court, was like eating at a mall. We always have great food at the Allstars. CBR being a Moderate resort thought would have better places to eat. The resort is nice, to far to walk if you buy the Mug program....

Spiders!

We loved the CBR, but our room had entirely too many spiders in it!

The horrible noise the chairs make on the floor in the food court. POR is carpeted so it is much more pleasant. However, to me, the theming at CBR is beautiful.

For the very first time, and had a King room which I LOVED.:p However, it is a LONG hike to the main food court area, as I was in Trinidad 39! Make sure you have a car to get to the food court area.

IN ONE WORDd - NOTHING!!! DH and I always stay in Jamaica and love the 3 or 4 minute walk to the food court; Jamaica also has the bus station that p/u and d/o first (about 90% of the time). There is not a bad things we could say about!!!

We stayed there last June & I personally did not like it.
It was way too spread out for our liking. To get refill on our mugs it took about 20 mins for the round trip, which may not sound like a lot but after being in the park all day, you really don't want to spend another 20 mins walking to the food court & waking back.

The bus serivce was poor, especially leaving the parks at closing time. Since it is such a huge resort, you have more people waiting for the buses, which means longer waits & most likely standing on the bus. If you have little ones, it is a PAIN!!!! If it were just DH & myself, that would not have been such a big deal about standing on the bus.

One the good side, we had A+ mousekeeping!!!

Personally, I very much doubt if we will ever stay there again. If we were to stay at a moderate, we would go for either one of the Port Orleans.

Just one person's honest opinion! ;)

CBR DO NOT LIKE ME! This is my experience there. The first time we stayed there...The tub drainage is plugged, water not draining...Roches in the room, roaches on my husband's back while lying down...The service was kind of crapy. Ooops, can I use that word here? We felt that they didn't care.

I wanted to give this resort another try, so we did. Again, we were having problems with the roaches...and the biggest problem was that the A/C. The inside of the A/C was overfilled with water which overflowed on the carpet. At first, I thought maybe they shampooed the carpet that is why it is very damped. The following day, I noticed it is more wetter than before. It took them awhile to get someone to fix it. I had to call 3 times to have someone to come. They didn't fix it, they just drained the water which will eventually overflow again and wet the carpet. They didn't moved us. The resort is booked solid I would assume. They just put that carpet blower on the floor. We slept with that carpet dryer on all day and nite for 2 nites. After that...I had enough of the cockroaches in the room and the wet carpet...I checked-out of that resort and moved to a much much cleaner and fresher resort- CSR. Again...they didn't show any concerns...nor "sorry".

I've been to the other Disney resorts and I never had any problems with the cockroaches nor the A/C water overflowing and the carpet wet. Will I try this resort again...I don't know. I've tried it twice and they still failed. Maybe the 3rd time it will be different...I don't know.

I don't like the fact that there is too many bus stop and it prolongs the wait going to the parks. And the bus is usually packed. No place to sit and it's hard when you have 2 small children with you and you're standing up.

The resort itself is beautiful. We had a nice time there, but not in the room.

What cockroaches?!? Are you serious? I've never seen them at CBR. I would never put up with that. And you saw them on two different trips?:(

DH and I just returned from CBR Wednesday evening, and it was our first stay there. Honestly, unless it was the only available choice to stay at WDW, we would not stay there again. First off, let me say that the landscaping is beautiful, and I truly enjoyed my walks through the resort. The room also was very comfortable, colorful, and housekeeping was very good. The room was always clean when I returned from the parks in the afternoon. We also received our first towel animals, a bunny and a mama rabbit. In the twenty plus times we've stayed at WDW resorts, this is the only time we were surprised with towel animals. Very cute!

Now for the reasons we wouldn't stay at CBR again. We were in Aruba 53. I agree that the walk to Old Port Royale was not that long, probably about 5-10 minutes depending on how fast you walked, but, I don't want it to take me ten minutes one way to arrive to where I'm going to get my mug refilled. then you've got another ten minute walk back. Realistically, if you could get there in five minutes, then you are walking extremely fast. Not enjoyable by any means. Even if it is a pleasant walk. I'm not looking for pretty scenery at 10pm after walking in the park all day and all I want is a snack and a drink. Number two, we did not like the food court at all. The grab n go section was fine, but I just didn't like the main food court choices or the way it was laid out. We peeked in Shutters, but it didn't look too thrilling either, so we opted not to eat there. Number three, I could hear the baby next door crying as loud as if he/she were actually in our room with us. Now I have heard noise from other rooms and from inside hallways at other resorts, but no where near as loud as this. Number four, the bus stop was also quite a hike, plus you had to walk through the parking lot to get there, no sidewalk to walk on. I thought that was not a very safe thing to do, especially at night. It took 45 minutes for an Epcot bus to show up in the am, the longest I have ever waited at a Disney resort. All together took one hour to get to Epcot with all the stops in the resort, and Epcot is about a two minute drive from this resort. Number five, I felt trapped in my room. It rained so hard and for so long on Monday, that I felt I had no where else to go but my room. My DH had the car as he had a sales meeting that day, and if I had even tried to walk to OPR I would have been soaked to the bone. This of course, is through no fault of the CBR, just one of the disadvantages of staying at a moderate. I couldn't even imagine being stuck in the room on a rainy day with children. You could take the bus to OPR, but again, since it is such a far walk to the bus stop depending on where your room is, you would be soaked even with an umbrella, which I did have, but still got soaked because it was raining so hard, and was windy. If you have a car available, this wouldn't be a problem.

Again, this is not a bash of the CBR. It has alot of plusses, one being very pretty with all it's bright colors and tropical feel. I saw small children having a ball playing in the sand on the beach. It could be very romantic at sunset strolling around the lake. Another thing I did not like is the fact that there is no hot tub. That is one of my priorities. I thought there was one at the main pool, but after looking and looking, could not find one. Even if there was a hot tub there though, I don't think I would have wanted to take the ten minute walk at night to get to it, and then have to walk back to my room wet. The quiet pool at Aruba was very nice though.

Since it was peak season when we went, and the AP rate was $115/night, now in retrospect I wish I had paid the $150/night to stay at the Swan/Dolphin with the nurses rate. Of course, this option isn't available to everyone. All in all, for the price, CBR is a very nice resort if you don't mind the negatives I experienced here. If I was to stay at another moderate, I think I would have to go for POFQ for the fact that it is a smaller resort, and therefore closer to the bus stops, main pool, and food court, plus you have the boat to DTD. :D

Worst things about CBR
1. BUGS!!!
2. Mousekeeping/room cleanliness
3. Food court service

We have stayed at CBR three times. First two times in Barbados and really enjoyed it. The room was nice and not too long of a walk around lake to food court. No problems with bus transportation to parks.

Third stay was last July in Jamacia section. The room was very dirty, stained carpet, filthy walls, and bugs everywhere. Large crack in ceiling that ran diagonally across the entire length of the room. The next day we switched to another room in Jamacia, different building. Room still dirty with even more bugs, including in the bed. Pulled back the comforter and sheets on first night and bug crawling across the bed. Sheets were dirty and even had large footprint on pillowcase.

Food court service was terrible this trip. One example, breakfast was very cold one morning. Went back to counter to explain food was cold and asked for replacement. The woman pointed to where the microwave was and told me to heat it up then walked away.

We have been to Disney over 15 times and have never had these problems. Have stayed at deluxe, moderate, and value resorts. This is the first time I ever complained about room cleanliness or service and asked to switch rooms. Could go into greater detail but did not mean for this to be so long. We tried to make the most of it but will never stay at CBR again.
