CBR walking distance to 1/2 marathon start line???

i have read folks walk from OKW to the full-marathon start line. We are staying at CBR -- i'm wondering if we request a room in the NE section of the resort, just how far is the 1/2 start? it looks about the same distance as OKW to full marathon start. It would require crossing through the intersection of Buena Vista Drive and Epcot Center Drive - would this be terribly dangerous?

I'm willing to walk a mile or so to save me an hour of sleep

Good question!! I am staying there too! We COULD walk through the back of Epcot where the firehouse is and right to the parking lot! It will still be dark out, maybe noone will notice!!

I wouldn't. Those areas aren't set up for walkers. You would take your life in your hands.

I have thought of every possible way to get to the start from the Boardwalk w/out using Disney transportation at 3am - 4am.

It is going to be DARK!! I don't know about road closures (we will have a car so we could drive if I felt sure about that option). Those roads are NOT meant for walking (Buena Vista Drive, EPCOT Center Drive).

Then I thought, what if something happens and I miss the start?

All the training and time I have put into this and I don't think I can take the chance to miss the start to get an extra hour of sleep!

So, I have resolved to getting on the bus at 4am and getting over there the way disney wants us to! It pains me but I have decided it is the safest way to get over there.

It is very dark that early in the AM. And as you get closer to Epcot the traffic is horrendous (especially as you get closer to the start time). Take the bus and get there with enough time to relax before the race. At about 4:45AM last year, the cars were lined up for miles trying to get into the Epcot parking lot. We took the bus. It was easy to leave the driving to Disney. Plus just about every commercial bus within a radius of 100 miles seems to be at WDW getting people to and from the marathon.

I am curious, when is the marathon being held-where does the course run through?

The marathon starts at 6AM on Sunday, Jan 9. It starts in Epcot, runners go to MK, then AK, then WWoS, then DS, and back to Epcot. The 1/2 marathon ends in the Pluto parking lot at the MK parking area.

The race starts at 6:00am and the half is finished by 9:30-10:00am in the MK Parking lot and the full is finished around 1-1:30pm in the Epcot Parking lot.

Last year the race was on January 11th...this year it is on the 9th.

Only 30 days left to train!!
