! However, you are at Disney... how can you NOT love it no matter what resort you choose?
I am traveling in Oct. with my family. My two children are DD7 and DS5. We can't seem to decide on which moderate: POFQ or CBR. Any ideas. The water areas at both places are appealing.
I too am unsure of CBR or POFQ...we are currently booked in September for POFQ but still thinking about switching to CBR. The only thing that I am hesitant about switching to CBR is I heard it is huge and the walk can be very far. My DD is 4 so pool fun and slides are important (not that we are going to be at them constantly). POFQ has wonderful reviews and the boat to DTD seems really nice...but still unsure...![]()
We like the rooms, the grounds, the pools, and the food court better at CBR. We didn't dislike POFQ or have a bad experience there, it just wasn't really for us. We prefer a more spacious, lush resort. We love the white sand beaches & hammocks at CBR!
The CBR pool definitely has more to offer with zero entry, 2 slides, and 2 hot tubs. Plus the children's pool next to it is zero entry, pirate ship themed, has 3 slides, and a tipping bucket!
We have never had any distance issues at CBR. Both times we have stayed there we have been in a standard room and both times we had an under 5 minute walk to get to the main pool, a quiet pool, the food court, gift shop, bus stop, etc. And CBR is very centrally located, making for very short trips to all the parks and DTD! We have stayed at both. We really prefer CBR. Love that relaxing tropical atmosphere. We like the rooms, the grounds, the pools, and the food court better at CBR. How was the food court at CBR? The food court at FQ is perfect for us.
Thanks for all the input!
I can't comment on POFQ because we have only stayed at the CBR. But, I think it all boils down to what theme appeals to you the most. For us, the Port Orleans resorts don't appeal to us simply because we are from Louisiana. We absolutely love the feel of the CBR. It's like having a beach vacation and a Disney vacation all rolled into one.
I, personally, think the walking distance at the CBR is overstated. The promenade around the entire resort is 1.4 miles. The pirate rooms are located to the side of the promenade meaning the walk is a off the promenade but still close. If you are in a building furthest away from Old Pot Royale (main pool, marina, food court, etc.), your walk will never be, roughly, one-half of 1.4 miles.
Keep in mind that the CBR is the only moderate resort where you can book a preferred location and be guaranteed a room near Old Port Royale. They cost slightly more but to some are well worth it.

Does anyone know about how much it would be to get a "preferred room" at CBR?

. CBR has beautiful tropical surroundings and the newly renovated pirate pool is supposed to be awesome (we stayed there pre-renovation in 2002).....I think your kids would love it
. I also remember the food court being great with plenty of variety for everyone and the resort seemed to be very centrally located that it only took 5-10 minutes by bus to get to any of the theme parks, water parks, or DTD
. Good luck deciding and have a magical trip
