I am traveling in Oct. with my family. My two children are DD7 and DS5. We can't seem to decide on which moderate: POFQ or CBR. Any ideas. The water areas at both places are appealing.

We have stayed at both resorts and prefer CBR over POFQ. Love the tropical feel of the resort and the pool felt like it belonged with a deluxe resort! With the ages of your children they will probably love the cannons along the walkways, beaches, pool and there are pirate themes interspersed around the resort, like in the foyer between the gift shop and the eatery.
The thing we enjoyed most about POFQ was taking the boats to DTD.

Was just at CBR in December and loved it! It was like a vaction within a vacation! Can't speak for PORQ, but I am fairly certain your children - and you and DH - will LOVE CBR!

We just returned from CBR and my kids LOVED it and I am sure yours would too! The pirate kiddie pool was a hit for my little guy :)! However, you are at Disney... how can you NOT love it no matter what resort you choose?

We just went to CBR and looooved it! The pool area at POR is nice, but I think the one at CBR is nicer - the themeing is better, the zero entry is nice, and there are two hot tubs. Plus, there's a wet playground that your children will love. They also will love the Nemo or pirate rooms.

I too am unsure of CBR or POFQ...we are currently booked in September for POFQ but still thinking about switching to CBR. The only thing that I am hesitant about switching to CBR is I heard it is huge and the walk can be very far. My DD is 4 so pool fun and slides are important (not that we are going to be at them constantly). POFQ has wonderful reviews and the boat to DTD seems really nice...but still unsure...:confused3

I also can't decide between POFQ and CBR. I have four kids, ages 12, 9, 6 and 5 and we are going with my mom and getting two rooms. We've stayed at POR twice before and really liked it, and have been over at FQ and thought it looked great.

How was the food court at CBR? The food court at FQ is perfect for us.

Thanks for all the input!

Hi - we have stayed at CBR a few times with our little ones and when we booked we requested to be a close to the main bldg as possible. Both times we traveled with my folks and our two small toddlers. first time we were in Barbados 10-15 min walk away from main bldg. second time in Martinique 5 - 10 min walk away from main bldg. the walk to the main bldg is very beautiful and relaxing. The kids didn't mind the walking because there was always something to look at on the way. The resort has some playgrounds, beaches and lots of birds, lizards and turtles. So there was a lot to look at on the way.

I can't comment on POFQ because we have only stayed at the CBR. But, I think it all boils down to what theme appeals to you the most. For us, the Port Orleans resorts don't appeal to us simply because we are from Louisiana. We absolutely love the feel of the CBR. It's like having a beach vacation and a Disney vacation all rolled into one.

I, personally, think the walking distance at the CBR is overstated. The promenade around the entire resort is 1.4 miles. The pirate rooms are located to the side of the promenade meaning the walk is a off the promenade but still close. If you are in a building furthest away from Old Pot Royale (main pool, marina, food court, etc.), your walk will never be, roughly, one-half of 1.4 miles.

Keep in mind that the CBR is the only moderate resort where you can book a preferred location and be guaranteed a room near Old Port Royale. They cost slightly more but to some are well worth it.

We have stayed at both. We really prefer CBR. Love that relaxing tropical atmosphere. :cloud9: We like the rooms, the grounds, the pools, and the food court better at CBR. We didn't dislike POFQ or have a bad experience there, it just wasn't really for us. We prefer a more spacious, lush resort. We love the white sand beaches & hammocks at CBR! :goodvibes The CBR pool definitely has more to offer with zero entry, 2 slides, and 2 hot tubs. Plus the children's pool next to it is zero entry, pirate ship themed, has 3 slides, and a tipping bucket! pirate: We have never had any distance issues at CBR. Both times we have stayed there we have been in a standard room and both times we had an under 5 minute walk to get to the main pool, a quiet pool, the food court, gift shop, bus stop, etc. And CBR is very centrally located, making for very short trips to all the parks and DTD!

I guess we just prefer the CBR. I have stayed at both and love CBR. POFQ is nice as is the boat to DTD, but for what everyone has already said we just like the feel of CBR

Having stayed at both, I found the food courts very similar.

Personally, I wouldn't stay at CBR again unless I was staying in a preferred location. I was across the bridge and the island, and it was too much extra walking for us on top of all the walking at the parks. It is a beautiful resort, and if I had young boys who were pirate crazy, I'd probably stay in those rooms. Also, if I was spending a lot of time at the pools and the resort, that would make it worthwhile staying there, too.

I preferred POFQ because of the compact location and the boat to DTD.

Call me crazy, but I tend to pick a resort that has been recently refurbished. Last October, we stayed at CSR and this June we will be staying at POP. I'm not at all picky about value/mod/deluxe and have stayed in resorts at all three levels. So, based on my criteria, I would pick CBR over POR.

I agree with you, mickeystoontown. Although we've not stayed at the CBR (we stay at the CSR), we have visited the CBR a few times, and we too find the talk of the "long walks" overrated. We've had a longer walk at the CR getting from our room to the food court and/or pool.

We've never stayed at POFQ but we loved CBR :). CBR has beautiful tropical surroundings and the newly renovated pirate pool is supposed to be awesome (we stayed there pre-renovation in 2002).....I think your kids would love it :goodvibes. I also remember the food court being great with plenty of variety for everyone and the resort seemed to be very centrally located that it only took 5-10 minutes by bus to get to any of the theme parks, water parks, or DTD ;). Good luck deciding and have a magical trip :wizard:.
