Just looking for some opinions. We will be passing through - no park visits - and thought hey, let's check out some Disney resort prices. As it turns our CBR is more affordable than some other options in the area. We will be visiting Disney Springs, so we figure staying at a Dis resort helps us out with transportation to DS and back, plus use of on site amenities.

So..........

Stayed at CBR in Oct. Didn't love it, but the price right now is great. I know it is under construction. I have heard about the gift card offer. Will we still qualify for the offer or was that a book by a certain time deal?

NEVER stayed value at any of the all stars... love it? hate it? I like the cute pool at ASMu (family of 5 so need the family suite option at this resort)

I don't think they are still offering the gift card. I'm pretty sure that was for people who had booked before the construction started or just right at the beginning.

I'm not a huge fan of the value resorts but they work if you are just needing a place to sleep because you spend all day at the parks. I would think if you aren't going to the parks and are planning on spending a resort day, ASMu wouldn't be the best choice.

I've stayed at all the moderate resorts except POFQ and each had something unique to offer and would gladly stay at any of them again. The only problem I can see you might having with CBR is the food court is shut down, they are offering some alternatives but if you planned on eating just at the resort, that might cause some issues.

Gift card offer is no longer for new reservations. So if the price is still comparable to or better than the ASMu Suite then I would pick CBR. Much closer to DS, main pool is much nicer and even with construction I think CBR would be a much better resort stay than ASMu.

So who's stayed at CBR with the construction...does it interfere with time at the main pool? annoying noise? etc?

That IS a tough choice. Usually CBR is vastly superior to ASMu, IMO, as Hopperfan said. However, we have had some very difficult stays where construction was involved, so we NEVER book knowingly at a resort with construction anymore. That said, construction can be a non issue on times, so, if you are willing to take the small risk, CBR is the better choice.

If you would rather take a lesser resort to avoid the minimal risk of a disruptive experience, then the ASMu is the option to go with. Personally, I would book ASMu, but I totally agree that the CBR is the better resort (and where I would stay for sure without construction). Oh, also, I would NOT book pirate rooms either at CBR. They are uncomfortable, IMO, and poorly located.

Just my 2 cents, FWIW. Good luck!

We are staying 3 nights in July, no parks. I had it down between POFQ and POP. I ended up choosing POFQ and paying around $200 more...I paid extra to have a more relaxing stay with more to do... POFQ has the boat to Disney Springs, hot tubs, and walking distance to POR. I also wanted the more relaxed, small resort feel. Little things like not having to take towels to the pool, better food options, etc... will make our stay better since we aren't going to the parks. All of that may be different for you!

We LOVE POR - it is a choice...we are staying there in Dec. so trying to mix it up a little bit if we do decide to stay on site. We think PO resorts can't be beat!
