I need help clarifying the types of rooms at CBR. On the Disney World web site it lists Prefered, Water View, & Standard. On the DIS site here it lists; Water View, Standard, & King Bed. Can someone clarify what they actualy have at CBR?
Thanks!

The room categories at CBR are confusing, IMO. When I stayed there in '06, I booked a Water View room and paid a preferred price. I read on the DIS that I should have booked a "Preferred" room. I called WDW to confirm, and the CM told me I would probably have a pool view. I was so upset b/c I wanted a lake view.

When I checked in (at 1 AM!!!!) i talked to the CM about desiring a lake view. It had already been assigned to me! We stayed in Trinidad North, Building 31, corner room, 2 windows, beautiful view. We didn't actually see the view until we woke up the next morning and we were so HAPPY!!!

I would book a Water View, make sure you pay the preferred rate, and have it noted on your reservation that you want a lake view.

Standard
King
Water View
Preferred
You can only pay for one of these. You can't pay extra and get a king bed in a preferred location for example. Personally water view rooms are not worth the money. Since CBR has outside corridors we usually have the curtains closed when we are in the room. Also some of the water view are quite creative in where you can see the water. Water view may also be a view of a quiet pool.

Last year at CBR, I wanted a king/waterview room, so I had to choose which was most important. I booked waterview and requested a king when we arrived.

Our first room was a king with a view of the quiet pool that was almost completed blocked by shrubs. I called and asked if we could be moved to a beach view and again requested a king (if by chance they had one). The CM said there were very view waterview/kings and we were already in one, but she would check. She found us a beautiful king room with a view of the beach from the front and side windows =)

I really really really wish Disney would update the room categories at the mods to include pool view and water view. Booking and paying for a waterview room and then ending up with a view of a quiet pool is really disappointing.

I agree that it can be confusing. Having said that, I agree with Safetymom 100%. I wouldn't bother booking a Waterview -- precisely because it COULD be a view of a pool just as easily as the lake. Preferred rooms deal with location, location, location -- closer to Old Port Royale -- other than that, they're exactly the same as every other room.

I've booked a preferred room twice -- once in Martinique 25 we had a beautiful view of the lake -- I took pictures from just outside the door on the walkway that you can see in the 2005 link below. However, we really didn't look out the window much at the view.

The second time, we got Trinidad 3128, a corner room that opened right onto a courtyard -- we loved that so much more! It gave us a place to take our food and sit at the tables in a quiet location, a place to relax -- and frankly, we could see the lake from the courtyard!

I guess for us, the bottom line is that we've loved absolutely everything about CBR!! It's a beautiful resort, and we can't wait to get back there!:yay:

We always book standard at CBR. We usually end up with what use to be called "garden view" - a garden walkway, vs. "parking lot" view.

Many of the "water view" rooms do not seem to have a good view of the lake.

As for paying for preferred, we do not because we like to walk and if you don't want to pay the extra try asking for a room in Jamaica or Aruba - it's hit or miss with which bldg. you may get, but last trip we were right next to the bridge which leads over the lake right to OPR (food court)

Thank you all for the information on the rooms. I booked a standard room for next December. We normally stay at the WL so I'm excited and apprehensive to try somewhere new because we love the WL, but from all the posts I've read about the CBR I'm sure it will be great!
