I know the prefered "Islands" at CBR are Martinique and Trinidad North. But in looking at a map of the resort, I am wondering if all the buildings in the above mentioned islands are included as prefered or just the closer ones to OPR? Some of the buildings in Martinique are farther out, closer to barbados . The Trinidad Norths sections furtheist buildings look too far away to be consdidered prefered.

I said in Jamaica and I know alot of people like that resort I didn't so I will bump this one

I have stayed in Jamaica twice, which was nice, but last time they put me in Barbados. My room was nice, had a corner room but the room faced the parking lot and street so it was kind of noisy plus barbados was too far away from OPR for my liking. I just booked a prefererd location for my next trip. CBR is my fave of the moderates.

Preferred locations
Martinique it will be buildings 24, 25, 26. In Trinidad North it will be 31,32,33. The additional charge will be $15 per night.

From the front page of the CBR FAQ Part II listed below.

I think the extra price is also for lagoon view....

so their have been complaints here about paying for a preferred locations but getting a lagoon view.

Paying for a preferred location doesn't get you a water view also. It is pixie dust to get both a preferred location and water view.

We requested Aruba for the location. S

Ive been "dusted"!! :wizard: :wizard:

Did you pay for a preferred room? That was a great spot if you didn't pay for a preferred view!

Actually, no! We didn't pay for, or ask for a preferred room or waterview. We were thoroughly dusted! :wizard: In our case, we were checking in at 9 am. I'm not sure, but I think the early check-in allowed them greater freedom in finding us a great room!

I am really panicking about that. My hubby wants to try a new resort but he would rather save $300.00 bucks to stay at the resort he loves -- POP. He is gonna be irritable if we end up miles away from a food court when he could have been at POP. But he isn't that thrilled about paying for a preferred so I am going to take my chances. Is there any buildings to request if you are not preferred. Does anyone know if Aruba is a hike to OPR

You'll love CBR -- Aruba will be a nice location, and not a bad walk across the bridge to Old Port Royale.

Nice pics catbert!

What building was that you were in?

Thanks! I'm no professional, that's for sure.

We were in Martinique 25, and our room was a 2nd floor corner room, 2549. Great location!

I've stayed at Jamaica and stayed this year at OKW. We would go back to CBR any day. We enjoyed how close we were to OPR. Also, on the bridge between Jamaica and OPR... there is a nice little swing and a romantic hammock. We actually laid on this hammock and watched fireworks.

To the OP:

Trinidad North is only 3 buildings; it's the smallest village in CBR. Perhaps you were looking at Trinidad South and thought that was part of Trinidad North?

I stayed in Aruba once, and another time paid for preferred location and got Trinidad North 33, room 3340, corner room; about as far from OPR as you can get in a preferred location room, but as close to the bus stop as can be (which was nice).

To expand on what another poster said about preferred location versus waterview:

You can only pay for one or the other. Each is $15 extra per night. I tried to book BOTH on the website and it wouldn't let me -- it was an "either-or" proposition. I then called CRO twice and both times was told the same thing, I'd have to choose between paying for preferred location and paying for waterview. I wasn't even allowed to pay $30 extra per night to get both.

The big word of caution here -- and no I'm not joking with this -- is that waterview might mean a view of a pool and not the lagoon. There's no such thing as "lagoon view" or "lake view." The water you're paying to view might just be your village's quiet pool.

Safetymom has long said she doesn't think paying for waterview is worth it. After staying at CBR twice, I totally agree with her. Keep in mind that at a moderate, no matter whether you're on the first floor or the second floor you have a walkway right in front of your room, right in front of your huge window. You probably aren't going to want to have your curtains open to enjoy that waterview because then everyone walking by has a view of YOU inside your room. Think about that one for a while. We'll wait right here ....

CBR is great. I hope you'll love it as much as I do.
