HI,
I'm taking my DD (8) and my Mom to the World 10/24-10/31. We are booked at CBR but POR and POFQ are also available. On our last trip in Dec. 2003 we stayed at CSR and loved it! I don't want my 8 yr old to be disappointed. She loved the pool and slide at CSR. Which resort would you pick? I've always kind of wanted to stay at POFQ, but I heard the pool slide is not that great. Would you rather stay there and walk to POR pool, or stay at POR and walk to POFQ for the atmosphere and maybe hit there food court?
Which has better bus service of the 3?
Thanks!

All 3 are wonderful resorts. I haven't stayed at CSR yet (I will this Nov.) but have toured the grounds and really like the resort. There is good and bad about each of the resorts.

As for POFQ - there is only one pool/slide but the resort is the smallest of all moderates thereby meaning less walking time to get to and from food court/bus depots. You also are first on the bus (then it must p\up at PORS) and first off the bus back at the resort not to mention this also works for the boat to DTD. You can always walk over to PORS and use their quiet pools or have your daughter swim at Ole Man Island but the walk is a about a 10 minute walk in between resorts. The only sit down restaurant is at PORS, only a food court currently at POFQ. You may find that a smaller resort would work best for all in your family as POFQ is more compact. This also works well for PORS as I find that most bldgs are within a 5 to 6 minute walk of the main building. I love both PO resorts and find them very peaceful and enjoyable.

As for CSR, if you've had a great stay and love the resort why change. My only drawback for that resort is the walk if your at one of the furthest buildings; however, this also means that your probably in one of the quietest parts of the resort which is great in my opinion.

I would say that if you really want the best of both worlds, move resorts in the middle of your stay. I would stay at CSR for at least 4 nights and then have your luggage moved to POFQ for the last 3 nights. This way you know that you will enjoy CS and your daughter will have a great time at the pool. The last few nights you get to enjoy POFQ and can decide if you want to stay there in the future. You also don't have to stick to the 4/3 nights. You may want to do 5 nights and only 2 at POFQ. I know some people don't like to move due to unpacking and such but I've always found that I pack enough clothes for 4 or 5 days and will have to do laundry before moving so everything goes back into my suitcases fresh for the next resort and is pretty easy to do. Additionally, the second time I pack only takes about an hour as I don't have all those clothes choices as I did at home when I was first deciding what to pack. You may find this works well for you.

I've never stayed at CBR but have stayed at both POFQ and POR and love both. The pool at POFQ is great! The kids love the big sea serpent. When I was there in July the lifeguards would get up pool games for the kids (and my ageless mom!) but I don't know if they do that all the time. It was a nice thing to do though. POR has a wonderful pool area also and some nice quiet pool areas. I thought CSR was too spread out, and like the more compact area of POFQ. POR is larger, but it never seems too big to me; maybe because the theming is so pretty I don't mind having to walk a bit. I like being able to take the boat to DTD too; it's a relaxing and fun ride. I think either POR or POFQ would be wonderful for you.

CBR is so spread out that I would never stay there. You have to have a preferred building to be close to anything. I thought the main pool was very small for such a big resort. It was wall to wall kids when we were there. I would choose POFQ or POR over the CBR. I think a split stay at CSR and POFQ would also be a good idea if you have your heart set on staying at the CSR. If you want a sit down restaurant then choose the POR instead of POFQ. The boat ride to DTD might be something your DD would like.

the POR waterslide is twice the size of POFQ waterslide if that is a major point there is no contest.

also riverside has more atmosphere than french quarter does and that "10" minute walk between the two gets old real quick

Thanks,
You all had great advice. I ended up booking POFQ. POR was no longer available at the AP rate. I'm glad that I didn't book CBR from your comments, whew. I didn't book CSR because it wasn't available during the time we'll be there. Bummer :( . I think POFQ will be nice for us. I especially like the bus situation over POR. If my DD wants to go the POR pool a few times, I don't mind the ten minute walk at all. We loved walking around CSR.
Thanks for all your help. By the way I have 3 CSR refillable mugs that I would love to trade for Port Orleans ones. Is there a board here for things like that?

You should have a great trip ! Be sure to enjoy both the resorts since you can share the amenities. Both very nice to walk around and you have the boat to DTD.

We also love CSR and it's pool, but look at it that she will have the opportunity to enjoy TWO themed pools this trip. As you can see we have stayed at all moderates but FQ, but have visited there and eaten there. We would return to CSR or the PORs in a heart beat. I think you made a great choice !
