Just got back (Dec 16-29) from CBR - had a great time. I am attaching a link to some pictures I took of the pre-cosntruction work they were doing in anticipation of the pool closure in early January. They are currently building a boardwalk (one that looks to be permanent) from the far end of the OPR beach (which is no more) near Trinidad North all the way around to where the old cement sidewalk entered the patio behind the Banana Cabana. To get around the entire lake now you have to detour at Trinidad North into the parking lot briefly (it is well marked and most of it is taken up by the contruction staging area) and then come into the pool area near the hair tying (or whatever they do) kiosk. Once the boardwalk is finished the detour should be removed.
The new pool will HUGE. Ginormous. Just from what I can see where the boardwalk is going. It is going out about 10-15 feet from the old sidewalk out onto the bridge for Castaway Cay. The bellman who brought our bags was telling us it will have a walk-in entrance (I guess similar to BCV
) and of course Pirate themed
. I must confess I am not much of a pool guy (although I did use the Aruba pool one evening while doing laundry) but after this past week I can see why CBR needs a new pool. I had always thought that the pool was small for such a large resort (village pools notwithstanding). But last week the weather was warm and DW and I spent a couple of off days at OPR killing time and enjoying the weather. With Christmas week crowds, I really saw how small the area was, what with all the sunbathers and pool frolickers. Can't wait for next year's trip to see the finished product.

ETA - The new boarwalk will provide plenty of room and great views to see Illuminations fireworks too!!!
