CBR or POR?

My 5 yr old son and I are booked for 8 days at POR for 6/24-7/2. Were doing 5 days of parks and some relax days mixed in. I am also renting a car because I am nervous about relying on busses. I have never been to Disney...ever! (Soo excited BTW) I am debating on switching to CBR. Construction is due to be done by 6/30. My questions: in your experience, how accurate are Disney's timelines for construction? Which resort would you choose and why? The difference in price is only $300 so that isn't really a factor. Thank you.

Normally I would say CBR as it is our favorite Moderate by far. But with the state that CBR is in right now, I would recommend POR.

POR, CBR is by far my least favorite moderate resort and we have always enjoyed our stays at POR very much.

Construction will not be done 6/30. Only the food court/main building are due to be finished. There will be ongoing construction on the new tower and all that will be built with it, which will bring lots of noise, AND the construction of a couple gondola stations (and assume some support posts close to rooms) ... more noise. This is just ramping up so no one really knows how bad this is going to be. NO WAY I would give up my POR room, you'll enjoy it there.

Promise, if @dansdad tells you to to stay at POR, that is the best answer you can get.

By all means, stay away from CBR- watch the video on dreams unlimited about Tracey's visit and what she dealt with. No a good portion of the construction will be over but it will still not be worth it IMO. We just stayed at POR and loved it, even if CBR wasn't in disrepair, I think POR is much nicer

Normally, I'd say whichever one is less but given the state of the construction at CBR and the fact that it's your first visit, I'd say stick with POR. I think all the moderates have something to offer and normally I just go with the one that is less, the state of CBR wouldn't bother me but I'm a frequent visitor.

POR. I've stayed at both, and for me, it isn't even a close call. CBR is massive, and the food court left much to be desired.

I have stayed at both and POR is the favorite for all members of my family. Check out my signature and you will see that I have been selecting it for all my trips. Checking in there on 10/31 !!

Thanks everyone. I was planning on staying put at POR just based on your recommendations, but that video really sealed the deal for me!! POR June 2018!!
