CBR or POR Riverside

Any reviews on the Alligator Bayou rooms?

I prefer the bayou rooms over the mansion ones. The mansion rooms feel to me to be a bit of your grandma's home kind of thing. I much prefer the rustic feel of the bayou rooms. And I like all the tree lined paths in the bayou section. Makes it feel very peaceful, which is nice after a crazy day in the parks.

I love both resorts! CBR has a nice tropical feel to it, and the rooms are newer. Although POR is still my fave. Its prettier with the lush grounds. And the boat to DTD is a bonus...plus the food court is a little better.

I love the mansions over AB section. So much prettier. But to each their own. :)

Thank you all for your input. I think we're going to try POR this year!

We are also on the fence about which resort to stay at POR or CBR (we would like a murphy bed as we have a 14 yo DD and a 9 yo DS and they DO NOT want to share a bed (who can blame them?) We are looking at staying for 2 weeks and we would not be purchasing a dining plan, so we liked the flexibility of POR for the boat to Disney Springs and POFQ for a change of pace. We will do 7 days park hoppers at DW and 2 days park hoppers at US. When are you guys going on your trip? We want April/May 2017 - waiting anxiously for the packages to get posted on West Jet so we can book our trip! :)

I would choose POR. They both are big but the layout of CBR is awkward to me.

I felt the exact opposite! Outside of the location of the Pirate Rooms (and the bizarre placement of the Custom House), I found CBR extremely easy to navigate - it's basically a look around a big lake. POR took me forever to figure out.

I've read a couple of reports that CBR started splitting up the park busses so that they only hit 1/2 of the resort (3 villages) before leaving for the parks, rather than circling all the way around.

Anyone know if this is accurate?

On the way to the parks, yup.

Doing a trip this June & can't decide between Carribean Beach Resort or Port Orleans Riverside. There will be 4 of us (2 adults, dd 13 & ds 9). Which resort would you choose & why? We've stayed at POFQ & Cornado Springs (1 night), Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, SSR, AoA (family suites only) Pop Century & all of the All Star resorts. I'm wondering which has the best pools for kids & food options. TIA!
I think at that age they would prefer the pool at riverside.. CBR is nice for little ones, splash area, zero entry. also POR has the boats to DTD

We've had this happen years back. There is an out road there and if on the way to the park bus is already stuffed, no need to hit any more stops

If I'm staying in a moderate, CBR is the ONLY one I will consider. I will go value before I go to any of the others. Cannot stand New Orleans, so POFQ is out. Stayed at CSR once and hated it - never again. Stayed at POR once - we were in the Mansions which as has been touched on felt like my grandmother's house where i have horrible memories, and the Bayou section just looks junky to me.

CBR feels tropical and is so super relaxing! It's like a vacation within a vacation!

I actually had made an account to ask this very same question. We are trying to decide between these two since the preferred room is practically the same price between the two. I will be going with my grandmother, mother and sister. Not to thread jack, but if you were to get a preferred room in CBR or POR, which would be the shorter walk to the main building with the food courts etc? Is the food court at one better or typically less crowded than the other? Buses better at one vs the other?

I've never stayed at CBR, but I've stayed near the preferred rooms at POR and found them very accessible to the food court, plus the walk is very shaded. It's such a beautiful resort; you can't go wrong there. The food court can get busy, but the options are great and there's always seating available.
