HI
we've been to both CBR and Riverside before and as we've got a new member to the group we thought we'd give CBR another try
however i've read some really bad reviews about CBR, housekeeping, cleanliness.etc, from people who have visited recently.
we're not looking to go till next april- do you have any opinions? has anybody been to CBR recently who's had good or bad experiences?
please let me know as i'm looking to book real soon and i can't make upmy mind

advice please!!

Welcome to the DIS. I have stayed at CBR in the last couple of months and had no problems. You will find many others with good experiences at CBR.

I think you guys should just book the resort you want to stay at. Every resort has good and bad reviews. We have stayed at many resorts, all levels, and never had a stay that would keep us away from any of the resorts forever.

I love AKL but I have had some great stays there and some not so great stays (like when we had to call a couple of times to get the room we just checked into cleaned).

We stayed at CBR this past August and it was just as wonderful as always! No problems with cleanliness, housekeeping or anything. Everything was spotless! The only downside to CBR right at the moment is the main pool being closed for refurbishment, but the new pool should be open by September. They have added slides to two of the village pools while the main pool is out of commission. The design of the new pool really looks fantastic and I can't wait for our next stay!

We were at CBR back in June (not that recently) and we had no complaints. Everything was clean, lines were decent. About the only thing I could find to gripe over (maybe) was what seemed like rather long waits for bus at main stop. I didn't time it, so it probably wasn't as bad as it seemed! Honestly, it probably wasn't that bad, it was just a lot hotter in June than our previous trip in November! :rotfl2:

CBR has always gotten a bad rap on these boards and I have no idea why. I'd pick it over POR and that's the truth.

I don't ride the bus, but you hear complaints about busses at every hotel, including - perhaps especially - the Port Orleans resorts. (Hello! It's the bus! It kind of inherently sucks!) If you're a bus rider, maybe you'll want to go somewhere else, maybe not. But no matter where in the world (or the World) you are, busses run on their schedule. When the bus leaves, the bus leaves. You might have to transfer. You might have to walk to/from the bus stop. That's the nature of the bus.

If you want to go to CBR, just go and don't worry about the fact that it's cool to trash it around here. It's very cute and a fine place to stay. :thumbsup2

We really enjoyed our 8 night stay in May 2007. We too were worried after we read what people wrote on the boards and in the unofficial guide, but we we were pleasantly surprised. Would stay there again, but now we own at AKV.:hippie:

I have stayed at both and much perfer CBR. I have never had a problem there.

We've stayed at both and prefer CBR just because we like the Caribbean theming better. But either is perfectly fine - you'll always hear about the usual CM/mousekeeping/bus issues, but those can happen at any resort. Personally, we've had none of those problems at CBR. IMHO, it's best to base your decision on the concrete aspects of a resort that aren't subject to the foibles of human interaction - things like resort location and theme, room size and amenities, beaches and pools, restaurants and food courts, etc. Every resort has its occasional difficulties with rude CM's, poor mousekeeping, or erratic bus service, but all of those things depend on how well individual people do their jobs, and there will inevitably be some inconsistency there, no matter what the resort. Go with the resort that meets your needs in terms of the physical plant, and odds are good that you'll have pleasant interactions with the staff.
