My friend will be using a Military discount. Since SoG is closed and the Contemporary is full for their arrival in February ... what is your opinion with the choice of CBR or PO?

She will be traveling with her DH, DS15, and DD13. They will be going over President's Day weekend. This is their 1st trip to WDW.
I would appreciate any advice. :D

We've stayed at CBR and POFQ. We liked them both for different reasons. We liked CBR for it's tropical feel, and the beautiful view over the lake, the sand beach the kids loved playing on and the hammocks where we watched :). We enjoyed the pool at POFQ more (my kids liked the slide). We also thought transportation was a little better at POFQ as there was only 1 bus stop vs around 6 at CBR (if I remember correctly). The trip back to the resort we were usually the 5th stop and it made for a long trip back. We are going to try CSR this time (to go along with my inlaws conference) and hope we don't run into the same situation. . The food courts had similar food although CBR was larger because the resort itself is larger. Had no problems at either with CM's (didn't run into them all that much). We had great trips both times so you can't go wrong. Hey they're going to Disney...everything else is icing :)

Before becoming a dvc member, my dh and I always stayed at port olrleans- Riverside (formerly Dixie Landings) and absolutely loved it. I have stayed at CBR and while it was nice I didn't feel that the rooms were nearly as nice. Same size rooms it seemed, just thought the ones at POR riverside were so much prettier. Matter of taste I suppose. I also thought the food court was much nicer and boatwrights sit down resturaunt is great but the food area at CBR is currently being redone so who knows? Maybe they will have drastic improvement on their food court and stuff. Bus service was great at POR riverside by the way, they have I think 5 bus stops throughout the resort and wait times were decent. And the main pool area Ol'Man island is wonderful as well. As the person before me posted, you can't go wrong with any of the resorts CBR,POR-french Quarter :jester:or POR-riverside. It's all a matter of taste. Have fun!!
