(I tried posting in the CBR FAQ thread, but got an error message)

But - what's the story on the beach construction? I made ressies for CBR Jan 2-8, based largely on having the beach. The website made it clear the big pool would be closed - but never mentioned the beach.

Also - a somewhat less crucial question - what tv stations are available, esp for kids? I know they have regular Disney - but what about ToonDisney? Any non-Disney kid stations, or typical basic cable stuff like Food Network? (And if the beach is closed, the tv will become a lot more important for downtime!)

And if the beach will be closed, do I have any recourse for switching? Not sure what to, tho...

I may be wrong, but I believe the only beach being worked on is the one at Old Port Royal. With every "island" having its own beach, I don't see this one being closed as being a problem.

As for the TV, I can't really answer as we didn't spend much time watching. I know there is the weather channel and I believe some local stations (I remember watching the news at night).

As the previous poster mentioned it is only the beach where you could play volleyball that is closed. There is plenty of other beaches to enjoy.

Food network is not available. It is basically basic cable with a lot of Disney programming.

Just in case you don't know this, the beaches are only for playing or relaxing in a hammock. There is no swimming allowed at any of the beaches at CBR or any other Disney resort. I just wasn't sure from your post if you were aware of this. I wouldn't worry about the beach at Old Port Royale being closed. Like previous posters, there are beautiful beaches at all villages.

Thanks - I was aware they weren't for swimming. My intent was for the kids to be able to play in the sand, esp if it is too cold to swim in the pools. They aren't big enough to do volleyball, so that's no big loss! But, afaik, the only other resort with a beach is the Polynesian, and that would be a pretty big upgrade.

(I did read the last few pages of the CBR faq after posting - it looks like no one is absolutely sure what might happen, considering the lack of advance notice on this part - but if they scatter it around, it should be ok.)

Bummer on no food network. That's one of our favorite family-friendly options that without actually being a kids show, in case the live programming isn't one of their faves. We've gotten spoiled with DVR - I may have to buy a Pokemon dvd or 2!

I am just back from a stay at CBR. The construction shouldn't interfere with anyones vacation. The work is behind a screened fence. You can hear some noise but won't see anything. I have a link to pictures of the construction in the first post of the CBR FAQ, link below.

Safety Mom-How much construction noise was there? Hubby and I really want to sleep in and return for afternoon naps. We will have a preferred room, so will be closer to Port Royal.

We heard nothing from our preferred room. The only place we heard noise is when we were sitting by the pool. It wasn't too bad and it wasn't all the time.

IS THE POOL BAR STILL OPEN????
