CBR $75 Gift Card deal ending

Even without free dining im saving money at cbr about 400$. Just did the math for switching to FW-if FW were to offer free dining, itd cost me an extra 400$ due to room cost. Is Disney offering to switch guests from CBR to FW for same price?

When did you book at CBR? My TA was told we could switch our CBR reservation to select other resorts at no additional cost, but the reservation was made in January before the construction was announced.

If i book now and then make changes to my reservation, will I still get the GC? I dont know my exact dates, but know the rough dates, so If i book, for example October 1 - 10, then change to October 4-11, will I still get the GC? What if i change the name of my travel companion?

Thanks

I don't think there is any way to be sure.

I needed to change my dates and was not able to book the same level for reduced number of days. I realize your circumstance is different but when it comes to compensation from Disney, who knows?

You can always make changes to your companions.

No because the last day to book and get Gc has already passed.

Not speculation.

I talked with a Guest Communications Cast Member yesterday about my FD BB that I booked last September for Pop and while I had her on the line I asked for her thoughts on FD at CBR this year. She said with 100% certainty that there will be no FD at CBR this year. So, this does confirm what @dansdad said.

Well I am not surprised... they started offering the GC as a compensation for those who had already booked and paid for their trip and couldn't change things.

Then people started booking those resorts BECAUSE the GC and extra compensation was offered to those guests, as Disney continued damage control.

But yesterday I got several emails from the various Disney trip planners I subscribe to, highlighting the GC and extra compensations as a REASON to book a Disney trip AT that hotel!

I am not the least surprised that once this transformed from damage control into a situation where guests are "gaming the system" and trying to get all the extras they can, now Disney WILL be losing money and they have to find a different method to appease the latecomers who have already booked the resort prior to the GC announcement.

The promotion was offered to already-booked resort guests to alleviate the stress of "no pool, no food, jackhammers and dust".... NOT for people to try to take a Disney vacation at tremendous daily discount! Which I have read more than one person on the DIS boards decided that the $75 GC plus the $75 discount on the room was enough reason to start planning a visit! LOL

Disney shouldn't have advertised the gc's.Too many bookings now for my dates so probably no FD :(
Bottom line-Disney didn't plan how they were going to handle the refurb very well at all-no "concrete" plan from the beginning.

They started out with a $25.00 GC as Compensation and then changed to a $75.00 GC as Compensation.

"If" they knew from the beginning they were not going to Compensate all Guests who will be experiencing the effects of the refurb, they should have just given Guests the option to change Resorts and let that be it.

That would have kept them from taking this PR hit.

Ohhhh to be a fly on the wall in the Executive Guest Services office sorting out these logistics! ;)

They can't have a resort practically empty especially during construction. If they offer "free resort switch", the guests will flee to other resorts. If CBR is not available for FD or other discounts in 2017, then without extra compensation, people aren't going to book there. The other resorts will fill up with CBR switchers, even if they can't get free dining. Then THOSE rooms will be unavailable for potential guests to book them during a FD promo...

I think Disney might have temporarily forgot how many people consider the resort amenities part of the vacation - they might be thinking of this from the perspective that "they'll just be in the Parks anyway, who pays that kind of money to sit in a HOTEL room?" Plus, if the crowd situation I keep hearing about continues to be a problem, plenty of guests are going to start considering the resort amenities a substantial part of the visit and the value (or lack of it) will be considered in their mental calculations. We're planning weirdos on the DIS ; everyone else, probably not so much so. But they are going to adopt our thinking patterns pretty dang quick once they realize how MUCH inconvenience a Disney vacation can have, when your Disney Home Away from Home, your resort & hotel, is ripped apart with no food, no pools, no entertainment, attractive views of construction equipment.....

HEYWAIT! Someone at Disney is missing a HUGE Character Meet n' Greet! Bring Handy Manny over to CBR and pose him next to a parked Bobcat! LOL

These are precisely my thoughts. Yes CBR may be fully booked NOW, but that is ONLY because of the gift card offer. When/If Free dining doesn't apply to CBR, a large number will switch to other resorts, thus leaving a bunch of extra rooms that Disney now needs to fill.

I wonder if they will offer room only discounts? That, coupled with the gift card offer, may not be such a bad deal.

I just dont know what to do! Im booked at cbr now but if no FD wondering if I should keep it or not! The darn gift card was a sneaky way of disney to hook guests. In reality the gift cards dont benefit guests it benefits Disney. The gift card is simply money recycled back to disney.Id much prefer an incentive that would actually apply to my package and reduce my balance due.The gidt cards dont reduce my balance.Sure I can buy stuff with gift card but its less important to me than actual savings.
