DH has a BIG birthday this year. I asked him if he wanted a party or if he wanted to take a trip. He chose the trip and told me he wanted to go to WDW! I have no problem with that!

So when the 4/3 deal came out, I booked! And then to find out that for the date(s) we're booked, we also got the $200 gift card!

And then add on the free admission (or similar value gift) on your b-day! Well, the trip just keeps getting sweeter!!!

Cut to last Tuesday, when I was called into the boardroom at the office to be told that they were taking some cost-cutting measures to survive the economy and that *I* would be included in a RIF (Reduction in Force)

But DH is optimistic that we'll be OK... and I still had 5 days before our final payment on our trip was due. I continued asking him if he really thought it was a good idea to take the trip and he told me to go ahead an make the final payment. So it's done. And I'm waiting on my docs (maybe in today's mail???)

He teased me, though, when he handed over his expense check to help pay my CC. He said, "I can't believe I have to pay for my own birthday gift." <shrug>

So, I believe, we'll be sharing a lot of meals while we're there! That's OK. We both need to shed a few lbs.

Just wanna start by saying how sorry I am about you having to suffer the dreaded "reduction in force".

I know its hard, but remaining optimistic is the best thing. Along with a trip to WDW of course..... it sounds like it will be a well deserved break for you and your DH.

I'll be visiting WDW this August with my family. Last year we had booked to visit WDW in June - unfortunately my father fell ill and we had to cancel our trip. We've managed to rebook for this year, so hopefully this is it

We are in a similar situation except I am a SAHM and my DH's job is down to 32 hours every other week. We are going for my DH's 45th BDay and were thrilled that we got the B4G3 deal plus the gift card. After discussing it, we decided to go ahead and go but cut down the number of days in the parks. All of us have one day tickets left and we are buying one day with the package with QS dining. The family voted to see which two parks we would do. If things improve before we go, we will upgrade at that point. If not, it will be great just to get to go somewhere warm and be at Disney!! Hope you have a magical trip!
We will be there Mar 27th - Apr 4th at POR.

When stressful things happen, like losing a job, sometimes it's looking forward to the good things in life like trips and birhdays, that keep us going! It's good that you opted to go ahead with the trip plans.

I am so sorry you were laid off. However glad you are still going on your trip. Honestly the trip sounds like a great way to escape for a little while and come back refreshed ready to face the world. I hope you find something new for you soon!
