caution about buying meal vouchers

Just had an interesting experience with a seller.

I'm not sure if she was naive or not OR if I'm totally naive, but she was selling VKL vouchers for about "adult" prices but they were actually for children. I only thought to ask about this fact just before I bought them--the info was never noted in her description. Some people think (or say they think) that these vouchers can be used for any meal as long as a child is part of the party--this is NOT true at every Disney restaurant (though it supposedly is true at RFC).

Again, I'm not charging this person with deception, but I would caution others to make sure you know what you're buying. Don't assume! ASK!

I agree totally! I would like to find a few q+c vouchers for our June trip. I just don't feel entirely safe doing it off of e-bay. Plus, they charege wayyyy to much for an $11.50 voucher! It just doesn't make it worth it to me.

FYI..If the voucher is for a child, then the main course has to be selected from the childrens menu.

The vouchers are a great deal, but make sure that you know what you are getting before you bid. I think there are too many people selling on ebay that donot really know what the heck they are doing and then they blame you for any problems.

SIde note, I saw a picture of a "Mickey" mug and knew that it wasn't really Mickey Mouse. I sent the seller a note and told her that it was the mouse from Anamainiacs. Too funny in my mind that the two could even be confused with each other. Also someone had actually bid on it!

Disney dining "ages" were recently changed to be more in line with their ticketing. A "child" is now under the age of 10 years (it used to be 11).

Just a quick note to add, that we too used our child vouchers at RFC, and our waiter allowed our kids to order anything they wanted... kid menu or adult menu!

I also have gathered here on the boards that this is the exception and not the rule... it seems to depend on your server.
It would of course be smart of them to let your child order whatever they wanted as their tip is based on the amount of the meal... so the more expensive the food, the better tip they are getting, and they know they are guaranteed at least 15% with a voucher... we of course ended up leaving a tip on top of that because our waiter was amazing!
But there seems to be nothing set in stone on this one.... so if you go with the voucher, go knowing your child may only get to order from the kids menu, and then if they are allowed to order from the adult menu, it is like a little pixie dust!
and always use caution when buying tix, even from the real places that sell them, those selling them do not always know what they are talking about!

RFC would only be taking the premium voucher right? I didn't see it on the Q&C list. I have been looking at these vouchers but most of the restuarants listed are ones where I wouldn't spend $15 a person. I can get the vouchers from my employer's partner website. They are 15.50 + shipping. Is that too much??

At $15.50 plus shipping, the vouchers would only be a good deal at counterservice restaurants outside of the parks. The Pepper Market at Coronado Springs and Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club are probably the two best deals using the Q&C vouchers because the voucher also covers the tip. Tangierine Café in Morocco (EPCOT) is also a good place to use the vouchers, if you're at all adventurous.

Other than those 3 places, I would be reluctant to buy vouchers for more than the original $11.50 cost. At that cost, you would "breakeven" at most counterservice restaurants inside the parks. You can check the menus at
AllEarsNet.com - Menus From Around the World to assess the cost of counterservice meals at various locations. Don't forget that tax in WDW is 6.5% and the vouchers cover that. This will give you a better idea as to whether it is worth purchasing the vouchers for your next trip.

We actually did ok with the vouchers at the resorts. Not a hugh savings, but enough, especially when more than one (since it mulitplys's the savings).

We have gotten the personal pizza (and we are one of those that actually like it..but only if just out of the oven). We order it with several toppings, get the fruit/cheese/crackers as our side, as well as pie ala mode (we ask them to put the ice cream in a sep container, so it doesn't melt as fast), and an orange juice (which I save for morning). It comes to about $20 with tax. We share it for dinner. Sometimes we get one of the meals, and the dessert and drink, and it is about $19.00. We seldom find the parks a good deal, and generally dessert has to be included to go a couple dollars over. We always share one at Peppermarket and Beaches, of course.

And yep, every trip to RF, when we have kids, we are allowed to get kids food off the menu.
